We're getting the rebel point of view. Maybe they're really like ISIS and the Empire is like the industrialized West. Maybe what's really going on is that they're establishing a Jedi Caliphate. Food for thought.

Without rules there will be chaos. All the Rebel scum have to do is pay their taxes and all this bloodshed could have been avoided.

Outside of Vader using the Death Star to blow up Alderan, the OT never really goes into much detail as to what the Rebellion is really about. They keep telling you that empire is evil, but the details are sparse.

Imagine if GRRM was the leader of the Star Wars universe

We'd have info on every corner of the Galaxy

The prequels did a shitty job at explaining that.

Did any leader of the rebellion ever care how many died in their fruitless wars for power?

They sought nothing but control.

Their weapon is called the Death Star and it destroys entire planets.

They are also angry mofos. I think it's pretty clear

. So you are saying, that besides the whole Sith Lord masterminding a civil war that cost millions of lives including murdering hundreds of Jedi, dissolving a democratic republic before establishing himself as a dictator, as well as the afore mentioned mass extinction event of an entire planet, we really don't know who is truly good and who is truly evil?

ISIS wants to rule the world. They want everyone to accept their religion or die.

The Empire wants to rule the galaxy. They want everyone to bow to the dark side or die.

You speak of academic debates between the idle rich.

Does it really matter to some poor moisture farmer whether the "storm troopers" in Mos Eisley are taking orders from an "evil" emperor or a benevolent queen?

I think not.

Unless, of course, some meddlesome Jedi shows up looking for a young boy to take away as his youthful apprentice.
