When you have money, its because you pinched pennies along the way. You're smart enough to know where to go cheap. People who earned their wealth know the value of getting by cheap.

lol i never noticed that cuz I was young back then but that's funny. If he really drove an Aston Martin then he was a huge dick.

You know what always pissed me off about that movie? The scene where he gets arrested in the store. He was complaining about the differences in quantities between hot dogs and hot dog buns. He clearly took 4 buns out of 3 packages, meaning he needed 24 buns. Why didn't he just grab two packages and move on? Idiot.

I just googled it and it was not an Aston Martin it was a 1959 Austin Healey 3000. Apparently easy to mix up with an old Aston.
Either way I think George Banks was a huge dick. He owned his own shoe company and obviously had money. Your daughter's wedding is not the place to cheap out. Especially since he didn't cheap out on the house or car.
And yeah, he's probably a millionaire, but won't just buy 2 packages of hot dog buns? Whats that cost back then? $2 bucks?

I wasn't VP of anything until 1994. It wasn't until my cereal varnish patent got big that I got my VP title. I made $85k in 1998 and my bonus was only about $5k which was enough to cover the deposit. I only said I'd fly everyone down because what people don't realize is that my family can all drive to my house except for Eddie and his family. Both my parents and Ellen's live close enough to drive (which is why they all showed up at the same time 2 weeks before Christmas). There is no way in hell I'd fly Aunt Bethany back for a pool because the thought of her in a swimsuit is nauseating.

Now I am retired and making a nice check from Old Navy which is helping to pay off the electricity bills each December.
