I mean they make it sound like I spit on your grave territory. The explanation of the film doesn't even make any sense when you read the spoilers.
It absolutely makes sense when you read the spoilers. It makes complete fricking sense when you read the spoilers. The story is an allegory.

I don't get why people willingly read spoilers
My wife read the scene that makes people want to throw up and I asked her to tell me about it because I knew it involved something I would be sensitive to. Not sure I'm going to see it, but that's the only reason I would seek out spoilers.

That cheap dime story high school paper allegory?
It makes sense if you read people trying to explain it makes sense. And you can explain away most things...or connecting or add symbolism.
The linear story makes no sense (so the spoilers, I've been told) - you can add whatever allegory you think he's making...and I won't spoil it but I've read the "intended explanation" and given the description of the scenes that correlate to said explaination...it sounds like total nonsense. But for the actual movie - taking out whatever symbolism you want to inherit or invent...people are saying the actual textual level movie makes no sense.

A couple of frenetic nip slip flashes during a jerky camera shot.

She should have spouted more of her personal views - real horror

evidently the "allegory" includes:
-god the father
-mother earth/mary mother of god
-adam and eve
-caine and abel
-god the son
and its pretty ham-fisted
my mom the 7-masses-per-week catholic would probably have an aneurysm

It's been bugging me all day why I thought this movie was so stupid, and what it reminded me of and I finally put my finger on it:
It's the recurring SNL sketch they rolled out a few years ago - the high school drama production.
But they just read Milton.
And Dante.
And Poe.
And they just threw back a handful of shrooms.
And they're at peak righteous indignation.
Oh, and the sketch is TWO HOURS LONG.

I want my money back. It was like a poorly written creepypasta.

"'Mother!' Is the Worst Movie of the Year, Maybe Century"
Sounds like it's worth checking out.

That is maybe the most jarring final act of a movie I've ever seen. I need people to see it and hop in the spoilers thread to discuss with me.
