In hindsight, he's clearly the "glue" that holds the team together. He's sincerely devoted to the business (as is, strangely enough, Erlich) - enought to do whatever is necessary to make it work.
He's the anti-Bag Head - Bag Head was part of the original team, contributed little to nothing and was foolishly bought off by Gavin to continue to do little or nothing for increasing pay (a subtle dig at the "fail upwards" corporate phenomenon) - effectively, Hooli traded Jared for Bag Head and was much worse for the trade.

My favorite thing about the swot board (and Jared altogether) is that everyone thinks it's a stupid idea and by the end of the episode everyone is using Jared's idea (in this case the SWOT board) to help them make decisions. It's hysterical how he gets the guys to do exactly what he wants, without realizing what he is doing.

Finally watched the last episode and it has to be one of the best in the series. I laughed the entire time. This deserves an Emmy nod, nothing on tv is funnier.
