As I sit here watch this awesome show and laughing my a$$ off at Kramer, I can't help but think that it's a crying shame this amazing comedians career was ruined way to early.

His career wasn't ruined early. He sucked at stand-up. He was never going to be anything other than Kramer

He played a gimmick character on a great show and was very good at it.

There's no "crying shame" that his career was ruined too early. He was 40 years old when he was cast on Seinfeld. It was 7 years later for the "incident".

Go to Poli board, they will eat up "crying shame this amazing comedians career was ruined way to early."

Dude was lucky enough to work with Larry David prior to Seinfeld and get the Kramer gig.

He could never have shaken the Kramer persona even without his breakdown At best his post Seinfeld career would be like Jason Alexander's.. Which isn't much.

Why does Radio Shack ask for your phone number when you buy batteries?

He can take solace in the royalty checks that never stop rolling in.

ETA: Keith Hernandez says he still gets about $3000 a year for the two episodes he was in.

There is a semi new book out about the show & the cast. No earth breaking new stuff but there is a part in one chapter that describes Richards as "very standoffish" off the set. So what was seen on screen was great acting, apparently. Re George post show, he was widely mocked at poker tournaments by many for his pickup line "hey ! I'm George & I am very rich". There are a few YouTube shots of him in tourneys and he does look like a real a-hole.
