Ender's Game

Would need to be an HBO type series I'd think. Just no way to cast one kid as Ender and get him from the time he leaves his home all the way to the end like they tried in the movie. But yeah, done well it would be great.

I'd also love an ACTUAL adaptation of I Am Legend. Thankfully I saw the movie before reading the novel or else I'd have thrown shite at the screen... Could be great if done correctly.

I have never read the novel but am a big fan of the Charlton Heston "Omega Man" version. How did the Heston version hold up to the premise of the novel?

Much closer to be honest. It's dated badly now, but same basic premise as I recall. Set in LA like the novel, not a military doctor, true interactions with the vampires, etc.

Novel is quite short...it's a worthwhile read.

Agreed. Don't think there is a possible way to condense 12,000 pages of storyline into 3 movies.

Ubik.

Sundiver could be a lot like Sunshine with a chance to have even more interesting visuals.

The Elric Saga and it is not even close. Would love to see who would play Elric of Melnibone and Moonglum of Elwher.

I just want them to make it so I could hear this song it a movie theater.

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant-The Unbeliever

No way they wouldn't take out the rape which would then trip up key points in the rest of the series.

No studio wants the main protagonist to start out as a rapist even though he thought it was just a dream.

I would love to see the land, but as people have pointed out in threads in the past, Covenant was a whiny bitch through most of the story.

I would love to see the Gap series made into a film series, but Thomas covenant would make for terrible movies. Not much action really, and the main character is a whiny bitch for pretty much the entire book series, not just most of it.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress

Starship Troopers - one of my favorite books of all time, the abortion of a film already made doesn't count

Conan - at least follow Howard's stories

The Man in the High Castle

Oh come on. You know you would love to see Nom.

Saltheart Foamfollower is awesome. Joys is in the ears that hear.

Not sure I've ever been so pissed with an author after finishing the first chronicles then seeing the perversion of The Land by the sunbane.

The giants are the best part of the series no doubt. There would be a few interesting things here and there, but if they followed the series it would make a poor movie series. The books are more introspective and a character study, they would translate poorly to the big screen.

I've always been pretty meh on Thomas Covenant though, mostly due to the main character. The Gap on the other hand is pure greatness.

Definitely Ready Player One if done right, but even better would be Scott Sigler's series about the Galactic Football League starting with The Rookie

Eye of The World by Robert Jordan

Maybe this could be pulled off as an HBO or Netflix series, definitely not as movies.

Based on what HBO did to A Song of Ice and Fire, I don't want them anywhere near Eye of the World. I don't think Wheel of Time can be turned into film. Too much relies on the complexity of the magic, which would be very difficult to show, as well as the inner monologue of the main character as he wrestles with possible insanity.

I don't think Wheel of Time can be done well as live action. Simply too long for a series of movies, plus the magic wouldn't translate well to the screen and those damned teenaged actors just insist on growing up. The best shot is for a premium channel to open the checkbook and commit to a wellfunded anime series. Starz is ballsy like that.

The Kingkiller Chronicles has great potential but would depend entirely on a homerun in casting.

Peter Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy is more space opera but could make an outstanding series. Advanced earth culture with vast interstellar colonies and sentient ships is torn apart when a Satanic cultist opens a portal allowing the souls of the damned to possess the living. That's right, Space Al Capone.

I couldn't get past the third chapter of The Reality Dysfunction the first time I read it, but I'm going to try it again because the concept is insane.

Robert Jordan said it would be hard to cast because Rand is supposed to be a 6'5 red head. Of course, that did not stop them from casting Viggo Mortensen to play 6'6 Aragorn. But in this case, Rand's height matters because his heritage matters.
