The wife has been doing a rewatch of Gilmore Girls before watching the new eps so I've been watching too.

Everyone seems to hold Rory up as this perfect, sweet nice girl that everyone who meets her seems to worship, but I'm watching and think she's a selfish bitch. She treats Dean like shite and kisses Jess while they're together. Then Dean finally grows a pair and breaks up with her and she starts seeing Jess. Then she wants to be friends with Dean again b/c she can't stand that his mom & sister might hate her.

Let's not forget she sleeps with Dean who is married to someone else and has the audacity to say that he was her boyfriend first. How can people like her character at all?

Every Gilmore Girls post I have made on this board has been critical of Rory and slamming her as a stuck up bitch whore. So you aren't the only one.

Sounds like you are still in Season 4. High School Rory is a saint compared to college Rory. Rory in the final 3 seasons is a total bitch, especially once she starts hanging out with the Life and Death Brigade. I actively rooted against her character in the later seasons and the new epiosdes.

I agree. The town of Stars Hallow looked at Lorelai and Rory as their queen and princess. It gave them a sense of entitlement that the world revolves around them. Rory was then brought into her grandparents world of wealth and privilege when they began paying for her to go to Chilton. The first 3 seasons she did a remarkable good job of toeing the line of "I'm in this world but I'm also down to earth." Once at Yale her entitlement knew no bounds, including but not limited to: sleeping with Dean, getting upset at a guy sitting under the tree she studied under, etc.

Some of these things can be chalked up to a combonation of both privilege and immaturity, but in the revival 10 years later they clearly show she has not grown at all as a person. In fact, her entitlement is worse than ever. She clearly learned nothing from her first go round of sleeping with an engaged/married ex, thought becoming a teacher at her alma mater was beneath her (despite the fact she was unemployed), and constantly walked around like the world owed her something.

Lorelai is a despicable woman.

Such an ungrateful, selfish, annoying bitch.

Whaaa my parents did not openly and physically show me as much love as I felt they should have done so I'm going to judge them for the rest of my life for it and treat them with open disdain.

And I hate that their rich but I want to avail myself of some of their privileges while still treating them like shite and acting like a too good for everyone condescending count.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I love how Loreali isn't happy about her perfect kid losing her virginity to a married man and Rory gets pissed at her mom for not being thrilled about it and stops talking to her for months.
Is it wrong that I find Emily & Richard to be the most likeable people on this show? Sure they were snobs but they weren't mean. I found Lorelei's behavior towards them outright mean at times.

She lets it be openly known that she is disgusted that she even has to tolerate their presence on Friday night dinners.

But she wants their money.

I don't find her all that attractive tbh. I wouldn't kick her out of bed, but she's not that great looking imo. Plus her voice is annoying as hell.

Everyone in Gilmore Girls other than Luke, Kirk, and Richard are just awful people.

Rory, Lorelai, Emily? Awful

Jess, Dean, Logan? Awful

Jackson, Sooki, Michele? Awful

She grew up in my part of town and went to the Catholic girls school where all my sisters went, but she was just a couple years younger than me.

I bet she looked amazing in plaid.

They are easily the two best main characters on the show. Not even close. The way Lorelai treats them always made me upset

Lorelai is bad, but not as bad as Rory. At least she worked her way up the ladder starting as a maid. Still, I think Luke deserved better than her.

She was a good person in the early seasons. Not sure why the writers turned her evil.

Lorelai is a hottie.

I love all the "my wife is watching this and I noticed blah blah blah". Just admit you watch it. You'll feel much better afterwards. It's really not a bad show at all. When I grow up, I want to be Richard Gilmore (except not dead).

Oh, and I thought the gift earlier in this thread was perfect for this

She's a girl who found out multiple men find her attractive. They all turn evil the second that happens.
