Risky Business was on HBO last night and I caught it at the opening credits. Man, I love this movie. I remember my two friends and I trying to sneak in to see this at the Broadmoore Twin in '83. We were in 10th grade and it is rated R. The old bag that worked the ticket booth ran us off with a quickness.

A couple of weeks later we tried sneaking in to Cinema 8 to see it and were successful. I can't remember what movie we bought tickets for, but I remember being scared shitless that we would get caught as we waited for the lights to go down. Then Joel starts describing his dream, and as he makes his way through the foggy bathroom towards the naked girl in the shower I forgot all about getting caught.

As a horny highschool kid about Joel's age, this movie was like a voyeuristic view into my wildest fantasy. Rebeccas DeMornay was soooo fine. Her entrance scene, gliding in from the backyard in sheer sundress, the wind blowing open the doors as leaves swirl and Tangerine Dream plays is just epic. She drips sexuality in a way that burned in to my brains (and loins).

Some great lines as well, one's I still find myself using today:

"I don't believe this! I've got a trig midterm tomorrow, and I'm being chased by Guido the killer pimp."

"Say "what the frick."... If you can't say it, you can't do it."

"College women can smell ignorance... like dog shite."

"Let me give you a little advice so you know. In times of economic uncertainty, never ever frick with another man's livelihood."

"My name is Joel Goodson. I deal in human fulfillment. I grossed over eight thousand dollars in one night. Time of your life, huh kid?"

If you were a kid in the 80s, this movie is a often overlooked gem that should be at the top of everyone's list.

I've told this story on here before but this is a perfect spot for it again...

I had brought my friends to see Besatmaster for my 12th birthday in '82 the summer before and there were some tits in there if you recall. They were glorious, and I was a legend for a while. Next year, my friend John brought us all to the movies for his 13th...Risky Business. How the frick he got his dad, who was quite conservative, to do that I still don't know...but I was reduced to also ran status after that move.

And yeah...one of my favorite movies of all time. great look, great performances, great soundtrack/score...

Everything about that movie simply spectacular.

I am so glad I was a kid before the Internet age, when movies like Risky Business had so much more of an impact than it would today.

It's probably why the 80s are looked upon so fondly.

By the way, the train scene set to In The Air Tonight..... Wow

The score was perfect.

Everything had a bigger impact before the Internet, when attention spans lasted longer than a few seconds.

love me some Risky Business. I convinced the foundation I work for to do an 80s theme for our Gala this year, and I've already got my white nikes, jeans, black t w/ charcoal jacket and Rays ready to go.

That sweet middle hair part back then too

A seriously underrated (or underappreciated) movie.

The Girl Next Door basically ripped off everything from this movie other than the brilliant Tangerine Dream score.

Growing up, you were a nobody if you hadn't seen Risky Business. That Rebecca De Mornay bush was what wet dreams were made of.

I find it difficult to believe that sophomores in high school (16 years old) - couldn't get into an R-rated movie (17 years old)

Most people I knew in the 80's were buying beer as sophomores in high school.

We may have been freshmen. Either way, that old bag at the theatre didn't cut anyone slack.

They did use to sometimes card in the 80's (depending if you got a teenage attendant, or like in your case an old bitty) - and most places you couldn't just transfer over like now (one screen theaters.)

There were some movies that seemed more difficult to get into as a kid...like the Friday the 13th sequels.

Still can't believe Beverly Hills Cop was rated R. And yet still, one of the highest grossing films of all-time.

Classic 80s movie.

People today have no idea how difficult and rare it was to see a pair of tits back then as a young adolescent. Today it's two clicks and all the nudity you want. Back then you had to have some kind of access to a movie through a friend or something or there was one dirty magazine that you had access to or something like that.

I still remember staying up late on a sleepover with friends and pausing the old tape of Risky Business that someone slipped out of his parents' collection and just basking in the glory of a pair of tits. Of course, it was all fuzzy and blurry and shaky with the pause feature and quality of the day.

But it was beautiful to a horny young boy.

I had a Porsche 928 like the one in the movie. Best car on the planet.

Yeah and freshman are 13, etc.

And turn 18 upon graduation.

So no real difference.

If you had a birthday between January and June...you'd be 16 as a sophomore in spring.

Most of the population is 18 when they graduate because most births are January to June.

There were a few 80's movies like this:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Revenge of the Nerds
Porky's

The panty raid in "Revenge of the Nerds" got me through many of nights!!!
