That's certainly a possibility but it appeared Ray shot Cochran with the same Glock 21 he's been carrying the entire series. If I had to speculate I'd say that gun is registered to Ray Donovan.

I agree that made little sense as well. I'm not certain of the exact timeline but the son-in-law has been missing for a while. To have him set on fire within minutes of Finney's daughter giving up the location of the body should raise red flags with the police and provide Finney's defense team with an implausible scenario they can exploit.
If the daughter is the smart calculating bitch that she's been portrayed to be, then this is one move she didn't think through.

I think it carries over into next season. Paige seems to have some buyers remorse and Ray walked out on her mid regret. That look on her face didn't feel like closure.

I didn't think Ray was going to kill the teacher. I felt that Bridget was going to get killed at the end of the episode. Mrs. Minassian said that it was going to end. I felt Bridgette was going to get shot outside of the house when she was leaving to run away.
