I need to see a complete season before crowning true detective, but that's just me.

people here are overly beating it off because it is set in LA...

it's a very strong show but there is no way you can say it is one of the best by 6 episodes.

Also, it has the advantage of currently being on the air while the other shows have been wrapped up for some time now.

I can't believe no one else has mentioned Sex in the City! This show made HBO! Then I'd go with

GoT, Entourage, TD, True Blood, Big Love, Curb, Girls

I need to watch Deadwood the Wire and Sopranos. I tried watching Sopranos on and off but never got caught up in it. I think I need to start from the beginning.

Speaking of Curb, any word on if we're going to ever get another season? I know every year they all say it's over, seems like that's been the case since season 5 or 6, but they always come back. Looking forward to another season. My favorite comedy of all time

GoT
Deadwood - Al is the GOAT character.
Boardwalk
CYE
True Detective - move to #2 with strong finish

East bound and down
Entourage
True Blood
Newsroom

(not going to rank mini-series or BoB would be #2)

I've only seen season 1 of the Wire and season 1 and half of season 2 of 6 feet under. I loved what I saw though and need to finish them.

I have never seen an episode of The Sopranos

Well I can say its better than Breaking Bad if we are judging the first 6 episodes from each show.

I mentioned it. I will say that I would've never watched had it not been for a girlfriend introducing me, but it was a very well written show.
