Band of Brothers
Game of Thrones
The Sopranos
Big Love
Boardwalk Empire
The Wire
The Pacific
Entourage
Six Feet Under(only saw first two seasons)
Flight of the Conchords
This first season of True Detective will be high up there if it finishes strong.

I just watched all of them over again and its cheesy now that Im am use to Bordwalk Empire and GOT and the ending is shite! Series quality is getting better.
Eh, not a fair comparison since both Boardwalk and GOT have bigger action and larger stakes. Tony Soprano was a suburban gangster. He wasn't trying to take over the world or corner an entire city. It was a show about a man dealing with his conscience, his parents, his wife and kids, all while running a mob family in N NJ. The scope is intended to be smaller. Boardwalk and GOT have lots of blood and plot twists and things that go "boom", so someone who is more into those things is going to be more entertained by them, but The Sopranos will always hold its own as a character drama.

I love GOT, but they need to start killing people at a higher rate. I can't remember all these damn people.

-Rome - waaaay under-rated
-Band of Brothers - best mini-series ever
-The Sopranos - best character-driven drama ever
-The Wire - lost me in alter seasons, but up there for the writing of season 1 alone
-OZ - grew up watching it
-Game of Thrones - all the great plot elements everyone loves were created by the author of the books, so HBO deserves less credit for its success
-Big Love - great at the beginning, terrible at the end
-Entourage - lots of fun, not serious
-True Blood - not that great, but very entertianing until the last two years
- The Pacific - really didn't think it was all that well done, did not compare favorably to Band of Brothers
Remains to be seen where True Detective will fit. Right now, very high. If the ending ruins it, then lower.
Watched a few episodes of Boardwalk, enough to get the gist, not my thing.

Entourage anyone?
When that show was in its peak it was a great watch. Most entertaining 30 minutes on tv for a time. Went downhill towards the end, but I'm still excited for the movie.

If it would have ended 2 or 3 seasons earlier, it would be up on a lot of people's lists. But the way it just got worse and worse, much like Dexter, sticks in my head and I can't rank it very high.
1. Sopranos
2. Band of Brothers
3. Game of Thrones
4. Curb Your Enthusiasm
5. Rome
6. Boardwalk
7. John Adams
8. The Pacific
9. Deadwood
10. Flight of The Conchords
11. Entourage
I'm currently watching The Wire so I can't judge it now until I'm finish. Not ranking True Detective yet either since we're only 6 episodes into it.
