Definitely set it up for the Mexican cartels. I did read that Pena isn't likely to be in the next season.

Without Pena, I'm not looking forward to season 4 nearly as much.

Yes

Spoilers: Do a google search on the real life Pena and Murphy after the Columbia stint with the DEA. I think their characters are done for the series and we will see new agents in the show. I love how they have used IRL those involved in taking down the drug trade and have them as consultants when writing for the script. Awesome show...I went on a 6 show binder till late last night to finish. I am excited to see what season 4 has for us.

This season was really good. I was a little concerned it would drop off a bit without the (incredible) portrayal of Escobar, but it was possibly better.

Every episode was tense as hell and the secondary characters made the season. Pacho was a fantastic character. Maria Salazar... Muy Caliente

Just finished up. Maybe it's a hot take but I feel like this was their best season. Escobar was so awesome, but removing him from the plot allowed a much better balance and plot timing for everything. They didn't lean on voiceover exposition as much as in the first two seasons. I think it was for sure better than 2, which dragged for a couple episodes because the plot was spread too thin for 10 episodes. 1 is tough to beat, but I think what 3 did was just more impressive given they did it without two major characters.

Pena was awesome, but the Jorge storyline was what kept me enthralled the entire season. I was certain he was gonna die like 5020203 times

I'm guessing they will follow Pacho's connection in Mexico as the main villain next season. It would at least give some continuity.

Did anyone feel sorry for Jorge? I kinda feel like he got screwed by the system, but then again he worked for an organization that was responsible for thousands of deaths all over Colombia and the US so he got what he deserved.

I think the shows done a good job that a lot of the people involved in those situations don't exactly have a choice.

I can't feel too bad for him because he did basically kill his buddy to keep himself alive, but I think that was just because of his family being at risk

In the end, he still ended up alive and in witness protection. That's about as much of a win as he's going to get given where he started.

Jorge also was a consultant on the show fwiw and says that it was a fairly accurate portrayal of what happened. He only pointed out like two things that were inaccurate. Sounds like he wrote a book and is doing well for himself IRL

This season was phenomenal

I'm sad as well for Pena, but I trust they will not miss a beat

The Mexican cartels are fascinating as well. I could dig some Sicario type Juarez stuff.

Yeah, I read an article where they asked the real Jorge some questions and he actually has a real engineering job somewhere so he's not stuck rotating tires and eating KFC.

I'm so glad that I didn't know much about the Cali Cartel and didn't Google Jorge Salcedo until the end of the season. That shite was tense.

And despite what the showrunners implied, I'm betting Pena comes back.

Wonder if they will still film in Mexico? Or even film at all?

Their scouting agent was recently killed in Mexico.

Also...looks like Escobar's family threatened the makers of Narcos

There's a ton of places you could film a show about Mexico. And I don't think they are worried about Escobars brother

Although it may be smart to stop while you're ahead. You don't want to piss on the legacy of the show like HOCs did by keeping it going for longer than it should. But if they can pull off another great season like this, then please do
