Did it really make you afraid to go into the water?

Not into any of the lakes and rivers I swam in afterwards. The first time I swam in the ocean after seeing it was 10 years later and I was a grown man then, so no.

My mom went on vacation to Florida the week of the release with her family. She said the couple of days before it came out, her family would go to the beach and they'd have hundreds of people in the water. The day after; there was maybe 30-45 people.

I was 4, and my dad somehow thought it would be okay to take my brother and I. I am still traumatized, to this day.

I lived in NW florida and loved to water ski.

I will happily admit my 12 year old self use to look over my shoulder more then a bit before the boat would start to pull me.

I didn't see it in theaters because I'm a little young for that, but after the first time I saw it I was a little afraid to go in our swimming pool. Overactive imagination I guess.

I was 16 at the time. And no, because I didn't have easy access to a beach.

Yes, it was a real fear. I wasn't near a beach, but it made you think when you jumped in the lake or bayou. Some people that saw it at the beach had a rough time with it.

Well, now there's this

quote:

A rare Great White Shark was spotted on the Gulf Coast over the weekend — and this one was actually caught in the surf near Panama City Beach. According to the Dark Side Sharkers fishing club, Derrick Keeny caught this 9 foot 8.5? long Great White on Sunday, March 1. They snapped a few pictures, tagged and released the shark. It’s pretty unusual to see this species in the northern Gulf of Mexico, especially so close to shore, according to 8News sister station WKRG.

Not quite as big as Jaws, but they let it go. So it'll grow. And come back. And kill them all.
