Only makes 15.5 million out of its 150 million dollar budget.

Holy shite. That's a bomb of epic proportions when it can only make 10% of its budget back on opening weekend, even leaving out marketing costs.

The Walk also did very poorly this weekend, debuting at 7th.

Not surprising as Pan looks like warmed over shite. I wouldn't make my worse enemy see it.

In the previews, Hugh Jackman's version of Blackbeard (yes, not Hook) looked awful. And I like Hugh Jackman.

I was very sad to see this. I went and watched The Walk on Friday and I absolutely loved it. As it stands right now it is my #1 movie of the year but there are still plenty of movies yet to be released that may topple it.

I'm not sure what Pan's producers expected. People aren't exactly clamoring for a live action Peter Pan movie right now.

I took my family to the early matinee on Sat before LSU and the other good games came on

The only interesting part of the movie was learning where Peter "Pan" came from....what sucked was that they didn't even touch the story on why PP and Hook became enemies. Obviously another movie is in the works, or was

But they were for a Meleficent movie? No

The issue isn't that people "aren't exactly clamoring" for it, it's that this movie looks awful.

I saw it...it was decidedly average. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be a dark movie or a disney pan prequel.

Disney has been hitting these live-action movies out of the ballpark - box office wise at least. For my part, I've enjoyed each one of them.

Unfortunately, Disney was not at all involved in this movie.

Regardless, I was dying to see this movie before and nothing has changed that. I couldn't care less what critics think of it or how it performs. I've really enjoyed the trailers as well as the clips of the movie I have seen.

Am I the only one who was excited to see this? Too bad it's apparently awful, may still go see it

But Maleficent is more interesting than Peter Pan. Peter Pan is an origin in and of himself. The point with Peter is that he doesn't develop as a character and absolutely refuses to do so. I never thought he changed at all from the time he initially set foot in Neverland. To have the burden as "The Chosen One" is simply baffling to me. If you're going to have the trickster hero be the Chosen One, he has to overcome that trickster nature and accept responsibility, which goes against everything Peter Pan stands for.

Maleficent on the other hand damns a baby of a king simply for not being invited to her baptism. I mean, holy shite that is dark and fricked up. What the hell happened between the king and Maleficent, and how did she turn out the way she did..... Hey, let's make a movie out of that! That's a bit more interesting.

There's nothing in Hook's and Pan's background that doesn't indicate that they would be nothing but lifelong enemies. They are total opposites and natural opponents. We don't really need the background to their hatred. It makes sense from the start. That's why this film is completely unnecessary.

My wife and daughter enjoyed it, I didn't see it. Said the visuals were reminiscent of Life of Pi.
