Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal for Oscar Isaac to star as Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse. Isaac, stellar in Inside Llewyn Davis, will next be seen opposite Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year. In X-Men, he plays the most powerful mutant ever and the most menacing foe the X-Men have ever faced. Tracks back to ancient times. The main villain of the film. Considers himself a god. From the look of the comic character, Isaac’s going to have to do some benching.

also i would like to applaud you for posting a picture of a not-immediatly-reconizable-by-name actor in the OP

i hate when people bring up some random actor thats had one good movie getting a part and dont do somework and put a pic in there so we know who the hell they are talkin about

Wonderfully talented actor. They're gonna have to CGI the bajesus out of him to get him to look as imposing as Apocalypse, though.

Everytime I see a good actor cast in an X-Men movie, I think about how they'll take a backseat to Magneto, Prof. X and Wolverine (and Jennifer Lawrence).

I'm really hoping for a change myself. It's time for a new character to take center stage.

Apocalypse is supposed to be like 8 ft tall and can stretch his body so CGI is unavoidable regardless

That guy was epic.

Would be cool if they could work Cable in somehow.

I like Isaac as an initial version of Apocalypse. For modern day I just wish they would have used a physically imposing figure

Dude played King John in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. Convinced me he was English.
