To be clear, I do think there will be plenty of people who don’t like this movie.

Any 70mm IMAX watchers?

Was supposed to but the projector fricked up and we had to watch it in digital.

Should I see this in imax or Dolby?

And what’s the best theater ?

Not nearly as graphic as had been let on. The only real nudity is Florence Pugh's rack.

If this show doesn't win most of the major awards, something is wrong. Murphy and Downey Jr were unbelievable.

Saw this earlier this evening. An absolute phenomenal accomplishment by Nolan and everyone involved. It is on the long side and it’s very loud but you should expect that going in. This will win some big awards.

Whew that was a very dense movie for sure
Some just amazing scenes through the movie. Nolan is a master at that.

Didn’t have any trouble with dialogue thank goodness. Literally the opposite from Tenet

Not sure I will rewatch this one for awhile though

RDJ will get a supporting actor nomination at minimum

it was intended to be seen in IMAX 70mm. here's the "official list"

https://www.forbes.com/sites/bennyhareven/2023/07/14/the-top-8-best-ways-to-see-oppenheimer--and-why-imax-1570-is-the-winner/?sh=7142254f7932

To summarize, here’s the list in my order of preference.

1. IMAX 70mm: 15 perf/70mm film projection in 1.43:1 asper ratio

2. 70mm film: 5 perf/70mm

3. 35mm film: 35mm anamorphic film

4. IMAX Laser: 1.90:1

5. IMAX Xenon: 1.90:1

6. Dolby Cinema: Up to 108 nits (31 Foot Lamberts) of full-screen brightness—

7. 4K Digital Cinema: Large format with Dolby Atmos sound

8. 2K Digital Cinema: Better than waiting to watch it at home.

I didn’t see it in IMAX. Just curious, how would that really change the quality of the movie? I agree that Oppenheimer should win nearly every award it’s up for….including cinematography….but it’s not some visual extravaganza with cool action scenes like Inception, Interstellar, or The Dark Knight.

What did I miss by watching this on a larger than normal movie screen?

I feel the same as you. Honestly didn’t feel like I missed out on anything . It didn’t look shrunken or “off” or anything. It just looked like a normal movie to me

whatever these tell you...

Nolan says that 70mm film has the best overall image vs digital. i guess imagine going to a true IMAX documentary at a museum that would be in 70mm IMAX, and that's what you would've gotten for Oppenheimer. it appears that most of it is resolution based. not to mention the audio being different.

Just got out. Amazing moving that definitely lived up to the hype. I really think it’s Nolan’s best

I agree, his best work. I’m still unpacking it. So many damn layers, juxtapositions, amazing. The way this film unfolds as it relates to character arc is some of the best ever done.

Whenever spoilers are allowed, we got some deep diving to do on this one, gents.

Just got out of the theater. I thought it was fantastic. Cillian Murphy deserves all the awards.

Nolan still hasn’t learned how to balance the sound and dialogue for whatever reason

If you had issues discerning sound and dialogue in this movie then maybe you forgot to replace the batteries in your hearing aids. Sound mixing wasn’t an issue at all.

Last hour of the movie was peak Nolan, probably the best hour of any sequence of scenes he has ever directed

And the last hour was set up and foreshadowed beautifully.

The juxtaposition of Strauss v Oppenheimer. The internal struggles of Oppenheimer. Pride v guilt. Greatest creation is greatest destruction.

I need to see it again. It was so well done.

Absolutely fantastic.

Can agree at some points you had to listen very hard to hear the dialogue.

It is a long movie, and you can definitely feel it, but it’s for sure worth it.

Incredible movie.
