The Mist definitely.

Why couldn't they have had the gun jam or something or 'almost' shoot everyone in the car - but have something make the father look at the last second and see the tanks and rescue trucks?
Then possibly a little explanation of what and how the military accidently unleashed the creatures.

Titanic definitely.

Good points. There was room on the door for both of them, or at worst, they could have taken turns in the water.
And to throw away a stone worth more than the Hope Diamond ??? What tha ?????

I like the ending of Mist. It ended in a good horrific way.

I never watched the spike lee one, I assume it didn't have the same ending.

The original is an all-time great

It should have ended with him walking away into the mist alone. The army coming to the rescue after it's too late for him ruins it.

She goes on like one date with Ben!

She's 19 years old. Her mother has been having sex with the guy she's running away with...But not before she's at the altar to marry another guy. Who isn't having sex with her mother.

Elaine is running off to marry a guy that she's spent hardly any time with, most of it while he's stalking her at college and fricking her mother.

And then there's the final scene on the bus after the initial excitement of their escape quickly fades, and Elaine looks at Ben expectantly. His face is expressionless and her smile fades as well.

quote:

When Elaine first goes on a date with Ben, he acts in a completely obnoxious way: taking her to a strip club.

Elaine starts crying when the stripper starts twirling her tassels in her face; she runs out in tears.

She accepts Ben's sincere apology and they end up having a great date, chowing down on fast food and sharing their anxieties about their futures.

But after Ben confesses that he had an affair with her mother, Elaine doesn't want to see him anymore. She goes back to Berkeley.

She tells Ben that her mother claimed he raped her, but she believes him when he insists that's not true.
She tells Ben she'll consider marrying him, but she's already sort of engaged to a guy named Carl Smith.

Elaine's parents take her out of school and fast-track her wedding with car.

Ben tracks Elaine to the wedding with Carl, where, looking radiant in her white gown, she spontaneously runs away with him, infuriating everyone else present at the wedding.

They escape onto a city bus where their initial elation morphs into worry and uncertainty.

It's not a young people explanation. It makes zero sense...even for young crazy people.

She doesn't even know this guy...and he fricked her mother! A lot!
