I don't care much for ultra serious Chuck. I know Levi isn't playing Chuck, but something about him playing a no humor role just doesn't seem right.

And did they actually confirm that Claire is dead in tonight's episode, or does HGR just assume that? I saw the document he was reading said missing or something, so I figured she probably isn't dead (plus unless the bomb made a direct hit on her and blew her head off, I don't see that killing her).

The Haitian erased her memory and she moved to Nashville, that's all I know.

In a trailer they showed him in a morgue with a sheet drawn over Claire's face.

I was not a fan of this episode though and will do a detailed critique tomorrow.

But basically if you are expecting season 1 level Heroes don't bother watching because this is season 3/4 level shite

I thought it was actually intriguing. Aside from the Asian girl and video game storyline, I thought it was solid. They crammed a lot into it but I didn't have much trouble folllowing.

I would actually say this is way more , beginning of season 2 like.

Hero is trapped in another place, a secret organization is bagging and tagging, there is a secret event coming that is going to destroy everything (this is more season 1)

If we didn't know that hero was coming back and; I'm assuming, her story is going to relate to it, I don't know how I would take her story line... It's... really dumb lol

So this show actually reminds me of sense8 which I just finished a few weeks ago

Outside of the international/multi cultural flavor I don't think they have much in common. Sense8 was so much filler and pandering

This was good enough to keep me watching, but Noah Bennett still seems to carry the show. Evo is a stupid name and none of them really grabbed my attention.

I wish the premiere was only an hour. By an hour and a half I was reading a book and losing interest. I was a big Heroes fan for season one. This was just a little shaky, still keeping it on the DVR rotation though.

I don't think that was answered in this episode, but he seems to be trying to help Evos.

I think that they are working for themselves. They lost their son in Odessa at the summit, and the mom (Black British) went a little nuts and decided they should kill all of the Evos. I think Chuck wants to stop doing that though.

OK. so I watched it late last night and a have a few comments and a few questions.

1. Not as good/intriguing as season 1 premiere. It is missing something and I'm not sure what.

2. I don't like Levi in the serious role like this. I thought the same thing about him in the really shitty Thor movie, he doesn't seem comfortable in the take me serious role over the quirky charming character that Chuck was.

3. I like that they are cutting ties with the original crew except the non-evos. Apparently Hiro makes an appearance, not really a spoiler but I would think he has something to do with Katana girl's story. Her sword is either Hiro's or fashioned after it. I am interested to see if she learns to bend time like Hiro or if she will continue to bounce in and out of the shitty video game. I would think that she will continue to bounce in the video game to include her "Hiro's sidekick dope" kid with her story. Otherwise a nerdy nothing gamer has no place moving forward in the story.

Now for a few question

1. Will we find out what happened to a lot of the prior heroes? While no including them, I would love some lore on what happened to them.

2. Why would this Molly chick work for a casino and why did she go offline when Noah was down in the bunker? Was that timed with when she was drugged?

3. Is the Aurora chick with the looming threat? Because she was communicating with someone up there while trying to create a eclipse or so it seemed to me.

4. Do you guys think Peter Pan from Once upon a Time will be a key player or just have an interesting power?

It seems as though they have put a lot of non-powered people at the center of the storyline. I actually like this idea with HRG still there, Chuck and ugly wife and the ice cream girl.

Seemed to only be helping Peter Pan. Maybe his father?

Sylar. It's missing Sylar.

Zachary Quinto as a super powered serial killer is hard to replace. The original series started going to shite when they started trying to "redeem" Sylar.

Agreed, but keeping him around for additional seasons may have worked if they hadn't tried to fundamentally change the character.

First they tried various redemption arcs and then they tried the long lost Petrelli brother arc. Smart writers can make use of a high functioning psychopathic character without redeeming him (Think Hannibal).

He seems to be working for himself thus far. Maybe he's Peter Pan's father? (the actor playing the kid with the teleporty powers played Peter Pan in Once Upon A Time). Fatty's sole interest seems to be in Pan.

Someone already answered this with a good answer, so going to just give my thoughts on the duo. I like Levi's more serious character, but the chick is too freaky looking and her Cray-Cray Brit shtick completely fricks the tone of the scenes.

We can but dream...

Noah referred to this... sort of. Whatever it was that he had Renee make him forget, it was so bad that he wanted to forget.

quote:

Why didn't the screen say Fatality after the Asian girl killed someone?

Copyright infringement? Honestly I don't know but I am trying to block that entire storyline from my mind.

Good question, and who is she talking to?

My synopsis...

I went into this with Season 1 expectations and came out with Season 2 realizations. There was some bad acting and bad choices in actors (bearded conspiracy guy, for one) but they were overshadowed by the shitty writing. The web series was much better as it got back to the roots of what made Season 1 so great: people discovering their abilities and learning how to control them and how they effect their lives.

The overall feel of the show seems to indicate that the writers aren't sure whether they are writing a serious drama or a cheesy scifi show. If they're trying to hit the mark Whedon has exemplified with the MCU movies, they've missed. Horribly.

The Noah storyline is good and has legs. The only bad part is his new sidekick. As with my thoughts on the writers not knowing which way to go, they seem to have gone with a more comic-y buffoon type of sidekick instead of a dramatic one that causes problems (think Carl from TWD).

Chuck and Wife: This could be a good storyline but the chick throws it off for me. She looks batshit crazy and exudes that Cray-Cray Brit aura. It feels unnatural and forced next to Levi's serious character (I like seeing him in that role though). Another part I don't necessarily care for is how they are able to just kill these evos with normal firearms. You would think speedy grandpa or invis guy would have enough experience with their powers by now to have escaped from a simple room.

Katana-Girl: What in the immortal, bleeding frick is this shite? Whoever thought this was a good story should be banned from any involvement with any show ever again, even calling in to a talk radio show. This story was much better and more believable when it was called Tron.

I enjoyed the bits that showed other evos using their powers (like the Chinese flying guy), wondering if any of them will have a bearing on the upcoming storyline.

My thoughts are... This is a reboot of sorts. We have to learn who the characters are, and they don't know what they are. I think the story line will start to form in the next few episodes.

The penny dude reminded me (looks wise) of a character from some other show that I can't quite put my finger on. The character was able to control people like a puppet. I can't remember if it he was on one of the seasons of Heroes or Alphas or something else, but it has been bugging the crap out of me that I can't remember what show that character was on. Does anyone have any idea which show/character I'm trying to think of that had a similar looking guy that controlled people like a puppet?

That was from the original Heroes. Not the same guy.

The guy playing Penny is the guy from Identity and Constantine.

The biggest issue I had with the show was the piss poor writing that plagued the original series starting with the season 1 finale.

SPOILERS BELOW

1. Let's start with Noah Bennett accepting his indestructible daughter is dead. I get that his memory of June 13th is wiped but he isn't gonna forget his daughter can take a bullet to the dome and spit it out. Unless he knows Claire was the bomb he shouldn't just accept that she died in an explosion.

2. Most of Noah Bennett's likability was his devotion to his family, not just Claire. I get that Claire is dead and he is under a new identity but I find it hard to believe that he abandons his wife and Lyle (unless they died in seasons 3/4 and I forgot)

3. Several scenes were just clunky and poorly written.

While the Mexican wrestler is bleeding out his brother's first thing to do is call him out for being Mexican Batman? He should have been concerned about his health first- I mean he followed a trail of blood to find him. Then either the Mexican Batman tells him to become Mexican Robin or he finds the mask on his own and realizes after he's dead.

In the Molly Walker scene she knows the dude is an evo. I can't remember if her power lets her know their powers or not but she knows he either see the future or can manipulate objects. So her move to throw a knife at him from across the room is something a retard would know better than to do. And then the writers have the audacity to say she has been doing shite like that for a while.

Piss poor writing is what killed the original series and unfortunately it seems to just be picking up where they left off
