Yeah I liked Warlock. Know nothing about him other than what was in the movie, and that wasn’t much. He could be entertaining. He’s powerful but still capable of taking damage.

Ego said that very thing to Peter before Rocket's bomb went off. Plus, you see the blue power energy fade from his hands as soon as Ego's avatar implodes.
To me, all Ego meant was Quill is not a potential planet god anymore. That doesn't make him all human, though. He's still 1/2 celestial or whatever, so not surprising he can take a beating and keep going.

He also told Stark in IW that he was 50% Celestial and 50% Human.

It’s not all that important to anything but I do wonder why he would stop being half celestial just bc his celestial dad died.

Ego indicated in Vol. 2 that his offsprings' powers would be an extension of his own, hence the dependency on his survival.

How does Mantis still have hers then?

Mantis' powers being a function of Ego's abilities presumes they aren't inherent to her race/species. We don't know much/anything about where she's from, and haven't encountered more of her kind in the MCU.
If Peter didn't have any abilities until Ego activated them, and we know Peter lost those same powers when Ego died, then I'd imagine we have to assume that Mantis' telepathy powers are independent of Ego by virtue of their being normal, genetic traits.

My point is that it’s a lot of assumptions to make.

Watched it last night. Great way to end the trilogy. It was funny, had good action scenes, tugged at the old heart strings. I do wish Gamora had saved Quill at the end like he did her in the first movie, but I understand why Gunn didn't do that.
High Evolutionary was a great villain.

Agreed. He'd have been a good one to last multiple films.
I thought for sure they were going to indicate that Rocket's rage attack is the reason the skin on his face had to be re-attached.

That was pretty evident, don't you think?

Isn't that exactly what happened?

VERY disappointed at how they easily they dispatched him. this is the same guy who went toe-to-toe with Galactus.
...and won!

Yeah I think it was explicitly stated. "YOU DID THIS TO ME!!" or something like that.

I figured they'd be a little more over the top about it.

I may have well missed that somehow.

Finally saw it and what a kick in the dick. Little cluttered at the beginning but it’s what it’s supposed to be and you expect from the rainbow space suit scene on.
My wife was sobbing half the movie and on the way home. As somebody said, Gunn does an amazing job with comedy and the human experience. Obviously he’s murdered entire planets but when the high evolutionary shoots Lyla it was such a gut punch because of the complete unnecessity of it. Kudos for being an all time villain.
Soundtrack was probably my least favorite of the 3 but still good. Glad they had a call back to Redbone. 80s and 90s kinda take you out of it, especially the F&tM dance party.
So very glad the last marvel movie I’ll see went out on a high note.

Just like with Kang, I never got a clear understanding of HE’s powers, and I would’ve liked to know more about him.
