Wait so they bringing in transport from the other side again, or is this a time travel thing. I don’t remember exactly.

Wanted to cook braughtworst (however you spell that)

Hmm getting a better view on this, it looks like the area they used to bring this stuff across changes the reality around it. This is new. I think they are about to answer the question. Yep the future.

So peter is just able to put the puzzle together without held from the observer? Even though it is very complicated? Is peter good at reading the observer who have no emotion, is he really skillful, or just lucky?

Ah pupils cool.

Yeah it worked Wait NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think they transport from multiple futures.
Boom powerful image of Olivia’s girl as resistance.
Don’t do it peter don’t the tech in your neck.
Oh boy Peter is going to be an observer.

That was a very cool moment with Olivia looking at the video and we see a clear reflection of her face. Sweet moment before Peter goes all observer tech in the neck thing.

Ok I have to get back to boat loads of reading I hope to watch and comment tomorrow afternoon on episode 6

An Origin Story

So this is the beginning of the whole portal thing that is so important in the finale. Nice.

Walter calling Astrid Abner. That's a new one.

So dude tells Liv he's sorry for her loss and goes on to talk about how great of a person Etta was and all that she did for everything, and Liv just nods at him and walks away? Try to be nice for frick's sake, Liv.

Hey, Liv...I think your daughter was awesome and she did so much for our cause and humanity in general..

Hey, Liv...what time is it?

Hey, Liv...you just won the lottery. Congrats.

Hey, Liv...you are so pretty and sexy. Wuold you like to go out with me some time?

But for good measure, here is a pic of Anna Torv that I found that I love:

Great plan and all, but unless they destroy the whole future universe/Observers, it won't do any good since with time travel, they can always come back to this exact same point and in the present, they never miss a beat.

Okay, so they are talking antimatter to create a black hole on the other end of the portal. I don't get that at all (wouldn't it frick up the current world as well??) but whatever, I can roll with it. But then they say "It could take YEARS for them to rebuild." Wait, what? Wouldn't a black fricking hole destroy everything on that end, to the point where there wouldn't be anything to rebuild? Maybe I am stupid, but I don't understand the science logic behind any of this at all. I even get Walter's little demonstration, but why wouldn't that happen at both ends of the portal?

If I remember right, this Observer is right and Peter is wrong and sort of getting played..

Speaking of that, Peter going all rogue is sort of annoying. He's way off the map.

And him putting that piece of tech into his neck without talking to anyone is dangerous and stupid. At the very least, he should've consulted with Walter since he's you know, the smartest dude on the planet basically.

Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There

Wait, Liv took the monorail to that apartment? Why in the frick are they using public transportation at this point? They've literally walked into government (or whatever you call the Observer society) buildings and gotten in shootouts. Surely they have to be showing up at or near the top of some most wanted lists..

"Peter, when you feel like this, I want you to include me." Um, what the hell, Liv? You're only the most emotionless person ever (see above conversation I had with her), yet you are demanding shite like this from Peter? Weird.

I can't find anything on Fringepedia (pr pics of the buildings) about whether or not this 167 Cedar St. building is the same one as from several episodes in the past like I've mentioned before. Oh well..

Okay, so this scene shows us that at the very least Walter is a wanted man. Surely Liv and Peter have to be as well, especially considering their level of threat (not just the shootouts, but the fact that they are the old Fringe team of human lore that plagued the Observers so much in the past).

Aaaaaand, here comes the Walter two step...which is completely unnecessary. Just stand in the right spot and take a step, brah.

This pocket universe is pretty creepy.

And I feel like I remember this dude in there being almost completely worthless to the plot.

Peter sure as hell is pretty judgmental against Walter with all the "What was he thinking??" talk considering he performed fricking mirror surgery on himself to bury Observer tech into his spine.

I forgot about the door symbols and how they made the commercial break glyphs sort of relevant. Pretty cool.

See, Walter...others can just stand in the right spot and waltz on through the portal sans dance.

This Peter/Observer fight scene is pretty sweet. Peter going all neo on this dude.

Peter to Walter: "I promise, dad."

So now Peter is in the Matrix. IIRC, doesn't he go all billy badass and start kicking more Observer arse?

Come on! Seen Interstellar. In order to be able to time travel they probably already know how to control black holes. A small singularity wouldn't cause them to bat an eyelash. I forget. Do we see how they fixed the hole so fast?

Yeah, they tracked Walter pretty fast. You have to imagine those cameras are all over the place. The Observers should have been able to pick up Pete and the gang a long time ago.

He went HAM on the hybrids so I would think he would go full Rampage on the observers for killing his daughter.

I don't remember, but I hope so. It doesn't make much sense (and I remember being fairly confused with some S5 things the first go round).

I mean, they are literally riding around on public transportation. Surely there are cameras on those things. shite, there were cameras around that mostly-vacated apartment building that spotted Walter, and that was in the middle of a "bombed out zone." Surely there are cameras and shite in the city and on public transportation.

Yeah. I thought that fight scene was really well done, and Peter teleporting on this dude and kicking his arse like Scorpion om Mortal Kombat.

So the Observer finds out that Pete & The Gang are at Harvard but he doesn't immediately send troops?

There are a lot of questions like these when it comes to the Observers.
quote:

How can you be a good lookout? Isn't it impossible to check for observers and loyalists without thinking about loyalists and observers?

^^^ like I just said...
quote:

Oh come on. Are we supposed to believe Broyles would carry around a picture of Olivia and Peter?

He likely just brought it with him because he knew he was going to see them that day. And I can't believe you think the reunion was stupid...I thought it was pretty awesome. And necessary (have to reunite them this late in the game since they were so close for so long).
quote:

So why exactly did Widmark shoot and leave IMMEDIATELY when he knew there were other fugitives in the building?

I said the same thing.
quote:

Why exactly are they hanging out in Etta's house? And taking their time in Etta's house. As Fringe agents, they KNOW the house would at minimum be under some form of surveillance. Yet, they appear to be doing some nice estate packing. Nonsensical.

Yup. You'd think that the Obs would be investigating Etta and what all she was into since she is basically a huge fugitive and one of the biggest thorns in their side. But nope, guess not.
quote:

Look at the big brain on Brad. First Peter was able to fool around with the World Device Thingamajig and now he is going to be able to figure out tech from 1000s of years in the future.

I almost included this in my comments. I know he's smart, but he can literally figure any machine out, no matter what century it was made.

But at least they show him struggling to figure it out and having to use the Observer to help him (even though it didn't work).
quote:

Wait, so they caught the observer and his key from the site of the transfer BEFORE the opening transfer. Don't you think they would have changed the site, if they knew someone stole the key?

It wasn't the same site. They (Fringe team) just had gotten the coordinates of the new site and then went out there (and called Peter and told him to meet them there with the device).
quote:

Observers have super strength. Widmark picked Etta up with one hand. How is that observer being restrained? Seems like he should be able to break free from that table restraint pretty easily. He is strapped down. Easy peasy, Japanesey.

Thought the same thing, but let it slide. I assume they know enough about them to be able to create restraints that would work.
quote:

So Peter plans to remove the implants and then somehow implant them into his head? Really? I get that he is fueled by rage but he is going to stab his brain not knowing if each chip is coded for each observer or even knowing the precise connections for the chip. There is no way he would know the implant would crawl into his spine on its own.

A Walter consult would've done wonders IMO.
quote:

He doesn't exercise, so how come Walter isn't 450 pounds. They guy is 100% controlled by food.

And horrible (for you) food at that.
quote:

So there is some really tricky physics behind getting into the pocket universe but a bomb blast sends a guy into the pocket?

I think it was tricky physics to find the opening. The bomb blast randomly shot him into the portal. As you see later, all you need to do is step at the correct angle and you can enter teh portal no problem.
quote:

Peter's in the Matrix.

Same thing I said. shite like that makes me wish the few of us participating could watch these things together and MST3000 every episode.

An Origin Story

In reality peter could have put that machine together blindfolded its not like the parts were going to fit into other places

Why didn’t they use some type of truth serum on the observers since they are mostly human.

Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There

I really think the teleportation neck snap was a nice touch.

So are we back on the original timeline? Walters seems to remember getting the piece of his brain replanted.

If those glyphs did get used somewhere it would have been a mistake

I've wondered that for a while now. Peter disappeared and reset everything...but then he came back and Liv started remembering him (and someone - Bell? September? - told him that she was actually his Liv) and then everything seemed back to normal. But at the same time, it was still in a world where Nina had raised Liv and her sister. So which history really happened? Was it the regular one or the one with Nina as her surrogate parent? Same with other things as well, but that's the one that sticks out the most to me and makes me question it the most.

This is honestly the one thing that I have the hardest time being okay with. It seems like there'd be loyalists on each train, going car by car, looking for anything suspicious. They just take it like any old bunch of folks from jersey, going to and from the city for work. Dumb!

The easy answer, BOTH (but only Liv and Peter know the original one)! This way, they can explain away anything. I still don't grasp how she can be HIS Olivia, when she lived in this current timeline though. And what the heck ever happened to her sister? She was just gone, never to return again.

And now, here are the random memes that I made for these two eps (from the original threads):

episode 6 comments

Why couldn’t you just tell the truth peter. I guess that would make it to easy.

I remember this episode and the crazy hotel should be interesting.

Walter walking out by himself, oh boy this must be pretty big.

oh yeah the hotel is a hiding place, pretty crazy place to hide. Of course walter get’s distracted by food on the way.

IS that the guys who walter was supposed to meet 21 years ago? Nope it’s some other guy.

Is this one of those places where 5 days is like years in reality?

This is one interesting and scary place, they do a very good job with the camera work giving this disoriented feeling and such. One of the better filmed episodes I’ve seen on fringe.
Yep just as I tought, it must be a day to 4 years as in 5 days times 4 = 20

Oh yeah Child Observer, he is the key to the entire plan. So yeah this is a huge part of the plan.

Oh boy Observer fight about to happen.

Now something interesting here, If 5 days = 20 hours than it would make sense that 1 min could = days I don’t know the exact math, but how could Ostridge be waiting for such a short time?

Oh boy observers found a way in, but I thought they couldn’t see in? I guess he moved it because this hiding place sucked.

Peter’s new tech starting to kick in. Observers pretty slow to respond with how important these people are.

overall this is one of the best episodes in the season if not the series. That was good.

another thing why would he not make a video of how to get out of there? seems kinda pointless to make a video to get into a place but it's hard to get out and not make a video.

Yeah. I liked the part where it looks like the hallway runs into a wall, but it actually keeps going around the corner. That was cool.

I didn't even think about that, but that makes sense. Time lapsed definitely should've been different for Astrid than everyone inside the pocket universe. Good call.
quote:

Yeah, it's starting to bug me a little. It seems like Windmark knows what's up, but you'd think they'd be putting out APBs on all of these people, and every time something bad happens, it's this Fringe team behind shite. Yet Observers are still seeing them as just ho hum regular people.

Season 5 Episode 7
Five-Twenty-Ten

Huh? Did Peter jump back in time or was he doing mental calculations like the crazy dude from the earlier season?

If he jumped in time, then once again, shouldn't The Observers be able to kill the resistance, easily?

All they need to do is set up a perimeter of death around the warehouse Etta died in. Then wait for the whole gang to walk into the Death Trap.

On second watch this show is plagued by similar problems to Heroes. Making antagonists / protagonists TOO POWERFUL. Then having nobody actually use their powers.

Time travel + overpowered = Trouble. Looking your way Hiro!

Sorry but that was an almost complete lack of concern from BLOOD coming from Peter's ears. Heck, Agnes didn't even look over and show any interest at all.

Ok. I guess he is pulling the calculations trick in his head.

By the way, Anil said the tech enhances the abilities of the observers so not sure why having that device in his head would give him much benefit.

Blah blah blah. Getting sick of the"Oh Noz, I am becoming my old self" crap. Also, didn't think telling Nina that Bell never loved her, was so cruel. Not like he said you were too old, ugly and dumb for Belly. He said Belly never loved anyone but himself.

Which must be true if he was willing to kill 6 billion people to start his hippie giant spider bat commune.

Hey Walter, when the observers kill everyone you love, the dead won't be so concerned that your personality has changed. Here, have some cheese with that whine.

Come at me Bro!

Hard to believe we only have three weeks left of this thing.

OP is updated with this week's assignment. My thoughts and responses to others coming at some point this morning.

I liked these two episodes, but am not a huge fan of the directions S5 is going (and I remember that from when it was airing..). Anyway, I'll post shortly (hopefully).
