How could Peter be remembered if he never existed? Peter served his purpose.

See, this is poor wording by the writers. September didn't say his mistake had been corrected. He didn't say Peter died. He said NEVER EXISTED.

Based on that wording. Peter took himself completely out of the timeline thus everything should be perfect.

With Peter out of the timeline, the breach never happened.

Also, the problem with time travel, the paradox. If Peter erased himself or somehow interrupted September from saving him, then he never existed thus he couldn't stop September from saving him.

I haven't started season 4 but finished season 3. So I'm only behind on this week.

I'm watching season 4 #1 and #2 tonight maybe #3.

I'll watch #3 tomorrow if I don't catch it today. So I'm just a day delayed in joining the discussion that is all.

Let me know what he says exactly if you go back and watch it.

Pretty much what you had in your post.

"You were right, they don't remember Peter."
"How could they? He never existed."

Either poor language or at some point they really thought about getting rid of Peter.

I wonder if the actor was asking for too much cash money so they sent him a signal.

Or.... September lied. Maybe he knew Peter would come back. He saved him the first time so maybe he lied when he said that, knowing full well that Peter would return.

One of the problematic plot points. Time travel is always full of problems and paradoxes.

Well, he did build that crappy machine device thing to make them forget about Peter, only to decide not to use it when it came time to do so. So maybe he meant what he said, but he knows that they still hold onto memories subconsciously (and that that could eventually bring him back). And he always felt that connection with Walter and Peter so he just changed his mind and decided to let it play out and Peter come back.

Also, I have no recollection at all of how Peter came back. I'm pumped to see how that happens again.

Season 4 Ep 1 comments

You open the door with no pants on, learn some manners dude.

The observers had to say "they knew each other" when it is very obvious that they didn't know him even though they previously did. Waste of Dialogue.

Walter makes this show so much more enjoyable, first sight we have of Walter is a dead bird on a glass jar. Zombie Bird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it just me is or is Lincoln an A-hole so far in this episode. Is he going to take place of peter while we wait for him to come back? Wonder if this is going to work.

Maybe it's just me but there are some very weak dialogue moments in this show. "one is not like the other" really you can't come up with a better line than that?

So all of a sudden they give him higher clearance? Even though he broke the law, etc.

I think this will be more confirmed as the season goes on, but I don't like how Walter all of a sudden is scared to leave the lab. There is also a major plot hole, how can walter get checked out of the mental institution without his Son? Despite all this Walter is still very very funny.

the monster of the week giving himself a shot and him having translucent skin was a-little disturbing.

I'm not really liking this new Lincoln, so far he isn't a good addition to the show in a more primary role.

That sucks Lincoln had to kill someone who looked like his partner wow that sucks.

shape-shifters are back

A new Astrid, tommy, tom boy, many other names. Yeah

Ok impressions of first show: It was a-little on the boring side. There was a monster of the week that was all it was about pretty much, but it didn't bring me into the actual solving of it. Losing Peter as a main character is a huge hit on the show. I think it is good that Peter is in the background interesting idea for them to introduce. But there was a 4 person team who worked together for 3 full seasons, now you change one member and It seems it makes it worse.

not a good first episode.

Olivia wants to date Lincoln can we make Lincoln peter's replacement any more obvious.

I'm forgetting aspects about this season more than other seasons. But they are going to have a duel universe investigation. At-least there is a new thing to the show.

Wow Fauxlivia is an a-hole. CAT FIGHT

The Reqrium is one of the funniest moments of the entire series. That was great.

This reminds me of criminal minds, lots of profiling going on. I'm kinda thinking there is a better way to do this, than exposing fringe by bringing the alternate criminal into the picture. It is nice to have a different twist on the show though.

Wait is that Alternate Broils? Why would Broils still be alive? That puts bigger holes into this seasons plot. So because peter isn't alive Broils isn't killed because Olivia didn't cross to save peter, but than Walter would never go to save Peter so there would be no holes, meaning no peter to open up the door, meaning machine can't work. This seems to be a MAJOR plot hole in season 4.

This was a better episode, but I'm not overly impressed with season 4 so far as expected.

Indelible mark I wonder if the writers of this episode are Catholic

Observer sighting.

Yup!

I forgot they went to get Peter. It's one thing for events to occur somewhat similar even without Peter, but events which he was the 100% cause for, nope.

I don't think the writers had any idea where they were going or how to get there.

The above statement would cause Fear to fly into a rage but it is a FACT, Jack!

so aka, allowing them to cross easily
and
the whole fact that there are holes in the universes in the first place. If Walter didn't have to save peter no fringe events, no fringe division. Yeah I hope they explain this away.

If you can forgive that one MASSIVE frickup, though... The rest of everything comes together wonderfully. Season 4 has some PHENOMENAL individual episodes.

Dammit, I just finished season 5 then realized this thread existed. I never visit this board, but was hopeful there was some discussion. Now I have to wait for y'all to catch up so I don't accidentally spoil anything.

Or I could go back in time bringing all those people that died as a result of my actions back to life...

This is a RE-Watch thread. Not much to spoil. You can still join in with our weekly comments. You should be able to remember the episodes.

I really enjoyed watching "one night in October the most out of the batch for this week. I seem to put in to perspective how one thing can keep a person from going off the rails.

Definitely feel free to join in. It's mainly myself, Myth, and catholic. Jamsmiley and a couple others join in here and there, but you should fit right in considering you're fresh off your watch of the series. Every week episodes (and their writeup/summaries) are put into the OP, so even if you don't remember exactly what happened, you can check the links and jog your memory.

Welcome to the cool kids' club.

I feel like the season premier for season 4 is lazy writing. I hate how often the shape shifters are used. it's like the writers are asking "what can we do this week? meh, might as well use shape shifters again."
