We had some BRUTAL episode reviews of Terra Nova and SGU. I haven't watch Falling Skies so I don't know about it, but I assume they tore it up too.
However, this show isn't horrible. On my second watch, I am finding a bit more I don't like. I don't think I ripped the mutant people episode on the first watch, but it definitely had many flaws. You don't kill 2 FBI agents and not expect to have more swarming the area. Heck, especially after a US Marshal already went missing in the area.
The FBI would descend on that town with the wrath of an angry god.

falling skies had some very very weak episodes so I sees what you are getting at.

In order to have a bit of a debate you need the contrarian.

Yeah, Terra Nova was an awesomely bad show on Fox (I think), and the season thread (it only lasted one season) ended up just turning into us bitching about how horrible the show was. I actually loved the show, but part of the reason I did was because it was so terrible. The idea of it was so awesome (we found a time rip and it goes back to prehistoric times with dinosaurs running around), it was just executed SO fricking horribly.

I couldn't figure out what this show was...

until you said this. Definitely rings a bell.
I remember thinking that this show looked like it had potential. Clearly I was wrong there

I'll be honest, I loved Terra Nova.

Anyone watch Falling Skies? Really thinking about getting into this series.
Does it stay solid as the show progresses? Or has it been jumping the shark recently?

FS is borderline horrible, but I watch. But this is a Fringe thread, so lets try to keep on topic.
There is a season thread for FS though. Find that and bump it.

Sorry for the OT question, but thanks for the response.
Have you guys started Season 2 yet? I may join in around the end of Season 2 when things really start to pick-up.

Bump for Monday.
DANG! I accidentally deleted my first post so this will be abbreviated.
Season 2 Episode 12
Story time with Walter is awesome. Wonder how many kids he scarred for life. At least he didn't dose them with Cortexiphan. Don't let Walter babysit your kids.
Who gives CPR to a guy leaking blood? Not me.
Walter once again lets it slip that he lost Peter before.
Decent enough virus theme. Nothing great.
Didn't make sense for Asteris and Walter to take off the helmets. Even if air borne they were moving and working on a bloody corpse.
I don't understand Hollywood's incessant need to show the star's faces uncovered.
Season 2 Episode 13
2 episodes in a row where a large group of people is exposed to something and died yet they don't start out with the hazmat suits.
Ain't nobody got no time for hazmat suits.
Oh great, now Walter is giving the smell test to a candle dosed with a toxin which just killed off a wedding party.
Don't piss Walter off or he will make a biological / chemical weapon to kill your arse.
Season 2 Episode 13
Things are about to start heating up!
Oliva dreaming / connecting with her old memories sure seemed like a tank episode. I guess they figured we had seen Olivia wet and in her bra and panties enough times. They figured wrong.
Good episode. Olivia starting to get her Cortex powers.
Pretty risky of Peter to tell Walter to go to Chicago. He might go.
Oh snap! She knows!
We have Walternate and Fauxlivia but is there a nickname for Peter?
Alt-Peter sounds too much like Saltpeter.

OP is updated.
Myth, to avoid confusion, make sure that your numbering of the episodes is on par with the OP (IIRC, you said something about watching Unearthed at the end of S1, and are going with that pace). Also may be helpful if you named the episodes in your reviews as well.
I still have to watch two episodes, and hope to do that tomorrow evening...I've been busy as frick lately and didn't get to catch up over the weekend like I had hoped. But I like that we're finally getting some serious hints at alternate Peter and that whole thing. Also, looking at the next batch of three, the whole altiverse thing really starts to take off and we finally get into some of the more major storylines of the whole show.
ETA: Also, Myth...I know the feeling of a long, thought-out post getting deleted. What I do now is while I'm long-posting while watching something, I hit "Preview" (instead of Submit) several times. It's sort of a save-as thing so you won't accidentally delete it, and if you do you can just click "back" and get to your last save point. Sucks that yours got deleted, because I like reading your stream of consciousness posts.

I'm using the Netflixian Episode Order, but I will add the Episode Title to lessen the confusion.

The Doctor Who fans do not. I had a less than stellar review of the first episode and I had to flee from the lynch mob.
quote:I do that as well as cutting and pasting the preview info onto my desktop, but I was a bit lazy and didn't follow my normal protocol.
I hit "Preview"

For example, your "episode 12" review is actually talking about "What Lies Below," which is actually episode 13.
My comments on last week's episodes...
E10 (Grey Matters).
Cool episode, and one again we get into Walter's mind, literally this time. This seems to be a theme throughout the show like I said earlier in the thread, like when later on in S5 (I think) when they have to find all kinds of shite hidden unknowingly by Walter.
This Thomas Jerome Newton character...I forget how important he was overall back when the show aired. Is he prevelant at all?
Unearthed.
Standalone episode. Not a bad one though, as it was cool that this girl was mentally possessed by the Russian soldier dude. But all in all, nothing really important, aside from Charlie magically being alive.
Johari Window.
I remember this Wrong Turn/Children of the Corn/Hills Have Eyes-ish episode. Cool episode. And gotta love young Shawn from Psych as the deformed kid.
Another standalone episode though, as it is wrapped up completely at the end, and the Fringe team doesn't even report what they found in the town.
And good call (I think it was Myth) on Olivia all of a sudden losing her deadeye accuracy against the sheriff and his deputy. Normally she rattles off headshots with her eyes closed, but she missed this time. A lot.
What Lies Below.
I remember this one as well. Another cool episode, and I liked the idea of the virus sort of learning that it needed to get out of the building and contaminate as many people as possible. The one thing that bugged me about it was that Peter got sick like halfway through the episode, and eventually got healed, whereas every other person who got sick seemed to die within minutes (30 minutes is what they said at one point). Seems like them having Peter get sick a little bit later in the episode would've lended a little more credibility to the virus. But it was cool seeing him crazy...he has the psycho look down pretty well.
Several references to Peter previously dying again...can't wait for that to get ramped up in the next few episodes/seasons.
All in all though, even the standalone episodes are still pretty cool/interesting television. I hope to catch the last two for last week tomorrow night and then get to this week's batch and finally be caught up again.
And those pics of bikini-clad Anna Torv are pretty fiya. She is so damn sneaky fine.

I guess we were to infer that the virus LEARNED and Evolved and didn't want the hosts to die until they got out of the building.
A bit hokey but no more so that World War Z where the virus was able to detect injured people thus not infecting them because they were already broken.

Thomas Jerome Newton character.
I assume his time is limited because I don't remember him much so he is probably about to be killed or disappear.
quote:It was really noticeable because of her great accuracy the week before. Watching back to back episodes really drove home the inconsistency.
Olivia all of a sudden losing her deadeye accuracy
