When the show initially aired, I wasn't a fan. I thought it was A-Team meets X-Files.

Plus I hated John Noble.

Not his fault. He did such a great job as Denethor, I hated the actor.

I gave up on the initial run after 2 or 3 episodes.

Finally got hooked when I watched the show in the first quarter of 2013.

On to the rewatch.

Pilot episodes are always pretty rough around the edges as the actors learn to act.

Broyles was a bit over the top at time especially when he kept calling Olivia L-I-A-S-O-N.

I was worried that this was going to be another government obstructionist / cover up show.

At least by the end of episode 1, Broyles warmed on Olivia and the gang. Happy to see he isn't Skinner 2.0.

Agents breaking in without warrant still bugs me. Yes once the show becomes about the survival of the planet, a lock pick isn't so important, but early in the show it bugs me just like it did with my initial watch.

Peter was a bit boring and his Big Eddie plot stunk. The writers knew it stunk which is why is went away without ever being mentioned again.

My first real watch, I was also a bit worried about Agent Scott. Mark Valley makes paint drying seem as exciting as a last second winning touchdown pass in the super bowl.

Wasn't unhappy to see him die, then very unhappy to see him haunting Olivia.

Episode 2 had a definite X-Files / Millennium vibe. Not much else to say about that one.

Episode 3 also felt like it would be at home on the X-Files.

I always give Star Trek credit for making the technology sound like a real feasible science.

Same can be said for Fringe. Walter is very good at coming up with explanations for everything and Peter plays the skeptic but unlike Scully, he is willing to admit Walter is right when the science proves to be true.

TLDR

I think I might join in on this with y'all but I never watched it the firs time. I actually watched the first few episodes on Netflix a few months back but fell off. I feel like this could be a show that I could enjoy.

You'll love it. Fight through the monster of the week episodes that fill up the first 10 or so episodes then the good shite really kicks in and the series becomes an all-time great.

How big are spoilers in the show? How would it affect my viewing?

Imagine Lost where you get answers to almost everything.

It's been said a few times already, but I think you'll be gone if you'd like to watch along with us. There will be spoilers, but honestly on a show like this it would likely just help you to understand things better and be able to follow along with everything that is happening. In a weird way I feel like this is a different show than something like Lost or GoT, where there are huge things that could actually ruin your viewing experience. There will be a few things I guess, but it would enhance it more than ruin it IMO. Of course, I'm also pretty biased in that I'd like to have as many people join in as possible.

It might be a good idea to read the first ten or so pages to see where everybody's head is when it comes to discussion.

You could always watch along with us and just avoid posts that may spoil you...that's usually fairly easy to do once you've read the first sentence or so of a post. Either way, up to you.

And TigerMyth, you're gonna have to edit that pic, brah. Either pick a different one or draw a top on her. As awesome as that pic is, we still have to follow babe rules over on M/TV.

Yeah No one patrols the movie board unless someone RA's it. Not a big deal.

Just an FYI, but that kind of talk gets you banned (for not RAing) depending on what kind of mood the owners of the site are in.
