You're right, it's very likely the explanation would have satisfied the detectives and the investigation would have been dropped. I'm not certain Jimmy made the guy sit on a pie in order to humiliate him though, given that Jimmy only met him prior to the interview.

Some people can toss a lit cigarette on the ground and walk away. Jimmy seems to have a need to grind that thing out and that need shows up in a lot of what he does.

Mike's "morally flexible" line to start that phone call makes me think Mike could have had a part in the humiliation part of it. Mike was pissed at the guy, he said he would get his cards back but he would have to "pay" Obviously he meant cash and the hummer but that could have been part of it.

No doubt it was mostly improvisation but I think he had a basis, Mike coached him on the whole story before hand so you have to think he went in there with something.

It's almost like Jimmy turned into Saul the moment he made Dan make that video. It comes across like he just wanted to punk out the guy and watch him humiliate himself.

I see Saul as being the "morally flexible" middle ground between Jimmy and Slippin' Jimmy. He became Saul when he was talking to the police, but it was Slippin' Jimmy that wanted the video made, and scammed Ken into picking up the bar tab. Like his boss playing guitar, Slippin' Jimmy is how he blows off steam.

Pretty good explanation. I'll buy into it

Chuck is forcing Jimmie to be Saul. Seems Jimmie really wants to impress is brother but Chuck cannot see Jimmie beyond the one mistake he made. So Jimmie has just resign himself to be the criminal the Chuck beloved him to be.

Chuck knows that Jimmie is 50.1% slimeball though, and that the slimeball part always wins out inevitably. We do too, of course. Since it's a prequel.

Chuck's character ended up looking like a dick at the end of Season 1, but that's obviously something they like to play with. Changing our view of certain characters from good-guy to bad-guy, back-and-forth and in-between. So, I think Chuck will be redeemed in a big way pretty soon. LIke how the HOward character appeared to be the stereotypical cut-throat alpha lawyer prick at the begining of Season 1, but he ended up being a genuine good-guy by the end.

I like the Chuck character a lot. And it's hilarious how they've made us, the audience, and also the surrounding characters so accustomed to his weird electronics phobia in this episode. Everyone just throws their cellphone in a tupperware bowl with no questions asked now. That shite cracked me up.

The Cobbler scene at the police station was the best thing I've seen on TV in a while. I was almost cryin'.

The scene in the HMM Conference room where Jimmy is updating everyone when Chuck enters was very well done.

This is the first time Chuck and Jimmy are in the same room since that incredible "You're not a real lawyer" scene towards the end of Season 1. The tension carries over and you can sense it as soon as Chuck sits down. The biggest "eyes glued to the screen" moment I've had so far this season.

I agree.Like Mike said to Jimmy/Saul,"We can't all be as loquacious as you".

Loquacious| Definition of Loquacious by Merriam-Webster www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/loquacious Merriam-Webster Full Definition of loquacious. 1 : full of excessive talk : wordy. 2 : given to fluent or excessive talk : garrulous.

eta: Did Chuck say that he was there "to bear witness"?

it is easy to forget that Chuck has known Jimmy all of his life. So Chuck knows the sum of Slippin' Jimmy McGill's exploits. We have only seen a very slim part of Jimmy McGill's life.

Sort of like living with a drug addict that gets clean. They will always be a drug addict and it is hard to forgive and forget and lose your cynicism. for Chuck it appears to be impossible for him to lose his cynicism and based on the shady stuff Jimmy is doing, Chuck is completely right to be cynical.

It is pretty amazing how a show can cause us to cheer for the criminals, the shady and the immoral.

Really loving this season so far.

Any scene with Mike is great. His character is the catalyst in this show.

The cobbler scene was awesome. Very cool to see the origins of Saul Goodman.

Reading the comments in this thread with all the Jimmy this, Jimmy that talk reminds me of Seinfeld's "The Jimmy" episode. I can't help but picture it as third person Jimmy
