One of those rare, transcendent moviegoing experiences that you never forget. You know you're witnessing greatness very early into it

There will be blood is in my top 3 if not #1. I just love everything about it from Daniel Day-Lewis' outstanding performance to the music score to the cinematography.

I love how the movie is just strange enough to keep it kinda obscure, not many ppl know anything about it. It is a movie that can turn off a lot of people right from the beginning due to the no dialogue for 15 minutes or so.

Just a masterpiece of a movie in my opinion.

It's the book that got me into Cormac McCarthy.

Had you read any of his other books before this one?

I agree with others that it isn't one of his best. It is still good, but doesn't have near the weight of his other works (excluding Child of God).

Don't need a book, a page, a paragraph, or a sentence to describe this one. Just one word.

Awesomeness!

One of my favorite aspects was the foley. With almost no score and long stretches of little or no dialogue, the sound editing shines.

From the crackle of boots on pavement to cattle bolt guns, leather satchels sliding through air ducts and Chigur's strangled peanut wrapper, the detail in every scene is tremendous.

No country has been playing lately on Starz

It's been on one of the Starz channels nearly every night during June, July and August. The Starz Western Channel shows it two or three times a week.

It's one of those movies that's great background viewing when doing other things. I have it on, all the way through, at least once a week. Same way I used to watch Casino and Goodfellas when they showed a lot on channels without commercials.

Wells: "I know where the satchel is."

Chigurh: "If you knew, you would have it with you."

Wells: "I can find it from the riverbank. I know where it is."

Chigurh: "I know something better. I know where it's going to be."

Wells: "Where's that?"

Chigurh: "It will be brought to me, and placed at my feet."

Wells: "You don't know to a certainty. Twenty minutes, it could be here."

Chigurh: "I do know to a certainty. And you know what's going to happen now, Carson. You should admit your situation. There would be more dignity in it."

Wells: "You go to hell."

Chigurh: [chuckles] "All right. Let me ask you something. If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?"

----------

Chigurh: "Yes?"

Moss: "Is, uh, Carson Wells there?"

Chigurh: "Not in the sense that you mean."

No, but I've read every single one since.

And I like difficult books (I'm working my way through Infinite Jest for around the 5th time now) so I understand why McCarthy fans may say this isn't his best. But it's probably his best that is a reasonably easy read. Maybe it's McCarthy light but the dialogue is still brilliant even if he doesn't spend all that much time on dialogue in his other books. His other books are just never going to translate to the screen properly. This one was the perfect match.

And yes, I'm not a huge fan of Blood Meridian as brilliant as it may be. There is some amazing language in there as well as a lot of tedium. The Border Trilogy at times was hit and miss for me for the same reason. My favorites of his actually are probably The Orchard Keeper and Suttree.

"How'd you come to be out here with no clothes?"

"Got an over coat on"

"Are you jackin' with me? Don't jack with me."

This whole scene was great. The border guy just like you'd expect. A no bullshite. Hard arse. Maybe Ex-Sargeant in Army....ya think.

This movie is easily Top 5 since 2000 in my book.

"Hey. Mr Sportin Goods."
"Hey yourself"
"You a sport"
"Yeah that's me"
"I gots beers in my room"

This is where it turns unrealistic, as we would all go have a been in her room.

"Oh I'm uh waitin on my wife."

If he only new what would happen next. He'd go have that beer.

I was disappointed in how easily Woody Harrelson was taken out after all his big talk and buildup.

I think that made it better. Things just happened fast and that was it - one way or the other. Very true to real life, I think.

He was a big mouth and got taken out quickly. Chigurh was terrifying. And infuriating.

Just a great movie that I hated. But, it was so great. If you know what I mean.

I love the movie in general but the first 20-25 minutes are as good of an opening as any movie I can think of.

It's no Interatellar. No surprise Matt Damon.

One of my favorite things about the movie is the ending.
It wasn't they typical Hollywood ending.

I thought it was great. There was something he did, when he walked outside. It let you know exactly what just happened.
