I prefer to watch on Amazon Prime because of the "X-Ray" feature that shows all the trivia and whatnot off to the side.

One of my favorites from 2007? along with "There will be blood".

No country has been playing lately on either Starz or Cinemax.

You know it's kind of odd. This is such a great movie that is a direct adaptation of a just ok book.

The book was written to be adapted into a movie.

its rare but sometimes the movie is better then the book. American psycho was that way for me. the book is good but Bale's facial expressions and behavior were simply amazing.

Interesting that you write this. These are two of my favorite movies as well, but people look at me strange when I tell them I loved "There will be blood."

I worked California oil, which made the movie that much more interesting to me. It's one of my favorites.

Interesting fact from the trivia on Amazon Prime...No Country for Old Men and There Will be Blood had similar production timelines. One time, both movies were filming close to each other in Texas, and No Country had to stop filming because the smoke from a burning oil well from the There Will Be Blood set was screwing up the shot.

I couldn't disagree more. It's the book that got me into Cormac McCarthy. The audiobook version really surprised me because I had no expectations other than it would probably be a cheesy version put out because the studio wanted it. It's now my favorite audiobook, period. The movie is so good because most of the dialogue is verbatim. The coin flip scene is just as riveting in the book. And the book has sheriff Bell's backstory and includes the hitchiker, two things the movie really could have used even though it would add length.

I like "No country for old men" but I was a little disappointed with its ending

It's probably McCarthy's weakest book though, so I get the criticism when juxtaposed with how great the movie is.

I liked both as well, but it's probably my least favorite McCarthy book. It's one of my favorite movies though, so it's a weird paradox.

McCarthy is a strange cookie. His "border trilogy" clearly defines him as a great writer. His later work is more of hit or miss proposition for me. I still admire his work, though. And the movie (NCFOM) really worked for me.

He's one of those writers that I really want to like, but I just don't enjoy reading his works.
