No chance. They should've just cast that chick from The Hunger Games.

I doubt you'll find too many in opposition to this.

I really don't get all the Lawrence hate, but she did look pretty bad in the trailer. I guess this role just doesn't suit her well.

I thought that whole trailer was pretty bad tbh. The others were much better. Might still go see it for no other reason than Olivia Munn though

Munn will probably show her up with a worse performance

I think that's all of them. They formed "A" team and "B" led by Scott and Storm respectively if I remember correctly

Yep and each had their own comic. Uncanny X-Men and X-men.

The 90's were great times. Though I did like the Morlocks from the 80's.

I'm not too hip with all the comic issues but I do not ever remember seeing or reading mystique as some charismatic, loud mouth team leader.

It's more to me Mystique leading the X-Men. Magneto, sure, but Mystique? She's allied herself with Apocalypse quite a bit. Maybe Singer could pull it off, but I would have made Mystique a horseman and the most powerful of them. Make it to where Apocalypse amplifies her powers to the point that she takes anyone's powers she turns into. Would have given Magneto something to fight for as he leads the new X-Men.

It's simply jarring for Mystique to be the leader, especially knowing her background. I'm sure this is only the case to give Lawrence a more key role. DOFP it made sense within the context of the story and character, but not so much here, at least on the surface.

Don't know if I'd classify her as a loud mouth, but she did lead the Brotherhood of Mutants after Magneto.

Actually one of the top 10 most powerful mutants.

People bitch that WB does not respect the source material enough but Fox wipes its arse with the source material. I don't mind changing stuff, but why do they feel the need to change so much?

Does anyone else doubt the Horsemen turn on Apocalypse before the end? I mean all four of them are X-Men.

Then you haven't been listening. Plenty have been bitching about the X-Men films through their run. Mostly, this is because they crap on really good characters to service Wolverine, then Mystique (who are good characters as well, but they are often at their best when they have REAL characters to bounce off of). But also because they just hack up storylines, switch focal points, and don't really play to the strength of the X-Men, that of a team vs. the World (X2 and DOFP did this well however).

Singer has routinely forgotten the most important X-Men - Scott, Jean (X3 wasn't his), Ororo, in particular, to focus on X-Men who aren't really that central to what the X-Men are about.

Personally, I dislike Singer's take on the X-men, and what this has provided us. Personally. However.....

Most of the movies are quite good on their own. X2 is a Top 5 comic film, DOFP and First Class are solid. The only real stinker in the X films is 3 and it has redeeming qualities (I am not counting the Wolverine movies). He butchers the source material, but he still makes competent films, that's why you don't see the backlash.

This is looking like more of "Well, I better just give up getting a real X-Men movie," but as long as he makes a good film, I guess that's that.

I agree with some of that. They made Cyclops a whiny Puss in the movies and he was a bad arse in the comics.

Scott is the most important X-Man, period. His entire story encompasses pretty much every major issue with the X-Men, and the X-Men nearly live and die by Scott (all up until the New Marvel stuff). And he's vastly more interesting than even Professor X, Wolverine, Mystique, Beast, etc. The only X-Man that comes close is Magneto, but Scott is way more varied and nuanced overall.

Good trailer. I doubt Mystique has any more of a role in this one than she did in First Class and DOFP. I'm sure most of the marketing featuring her was to draw in teenage girls to the movie since she was just in a multi-billion dollar franchise target primarily to teenage girls.

I don't mind them changing the characters from the comics. If I wanted the comic story, I'd just read the comic. I want something different when I go to the theaters. Besides, does anyone really believe that Average Joe moviegoer really cares about how the costume looks different or if a character's personality is different than their comic counterpart especially if they are a supporting character anyways?

I agree with all of this completely. The X-Men movies are generally really good movies and great comic book movies but absolutely shitty X-Men movies.

As a comic book fan, I live with it because Marvel still gives me great comic book movies even if they are just good as your average movie.

I hate all of the movies for what they did to Scott Summers. Won't see it. Haven't seen one since X2.

WTF. we have singer to think for the first x-men which really ushered in where we are with movies today. xmen2 and XMEN:DFoP are top 10-15 in the genre.

Totally agree. They focus so much on Wolverine, who is a total cliche anti-hero.

No you're not. To be completely honest I've never really cared for the entire series at all. Only reason I will go see theses in the theater is b/c my wife is a huge X-men fan.
