Well...damn. Shows exactly how little I know about this show. I had no idea there were books.

Be warned - the core novels run about 5 thousand pages, total. It's a hump to get through all that, but the level of detail is tremendous. The show tracks pretty closely - at first - but the stories diverge pretty signicantly as you go through, so be prepared for that. The show is actually ahead of the novels for most storylines at this point.

Robert Baratheon

Have I been introduced to this character yet? Or am I supposed to know about this by now?

Thank y'all for the info.

It's only 4200 pages.

Give me that many pages, and I'll make you 4,200 pieces of origami.

My wife like to read, and goes through books like it's nothing. She may read it, and I'll just rely on her to fill me in if I get confused.

I thought you said you watched the first couple of episodes? He is the King that asks Ned Stark to be his Hand of the King.

First thing you need to know. Only noobs call it Game of Thrones.

You're watching Tits and Dragons broski.

And I would reckon that this thread won't be spoiler free for long so beware.

Ha. Dude - Like I said...I feel bombarded with information right now. So many characters were introduced...most of which aren't even playing a role yet. And the characters that I have been introduced to, I probably won't remember their names for a while...I can hardly understand anything in the accents they speak in.

Again, watching with the closed caption on helps with this a lot.

Just read up on that link that I gave you, don't click on any of the other links on that page, and don't read any spoilers (which will shortly be in this thread).

Its overrated. Just read the books, or skip it entirely

dafuq. Have you not been paying attention to this show in even the slightest?

He's the king.

I was just having fun with you about the book thing, although it was funny as the books outdate the show by a long shot and are quite popular and famous. It would be kind of hard NOT to know this is based on a book series. shite, the very last part of every credit sequence it says: "Based on the series A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin". But not everyone is a book guy I guess. No bigee. Enjoy the show.

But I think you're going to have to pay a little bit more attention if you seriously didn't know who Robert Baratheon was.

It certainly has a LOT of hype to live up to, based off what I've heard.

The wife is buying the books now...so I'll probably put the series on hold, until she finishes a few books.

That link is pretty damn confusing as well.

I already knew most of the backstory from watching the show, and still didn't recognize a LOT of the names mentioned.

First time watching Seasons 3, 4, and 5 (as they broadcast) I thought it was slower and plodding along compared to season 1 & 2, but upon re-watch I realize there are a lot of things going on and that I missed a good bit the first go around.

Season 6 has probably been my favorite because a lot of the slower plot lines definite started paying dividends (Dany in particular).

You'll get the hang of the names pretty quickly as the season progresses. It's a fun show and my personal favorite. Enjoy

...Aaaaand I'm out, before this stuff progresses.

1. Read Books
2. Read up on King (via link provided)
3. Watch with CC [ON]
4. Google Images of Characters, if I'm confused
5. Enjoy Dragons and Tits

Thank y'all for the tips!

You don't need to read the books. That shite is for nerds.
