To be fair, the events in Man of Steel happen in less than a 48 hour period, to where I don't know what Batman could have done. Maybe he and Luthor were developing some sort of weapon against them when they attacked Metropolis?

If that's a good enough reason ok....

But it is funny that Batman is so Godlike he can beat Superman, however, he can't figure out how to react to a situation in 48 hours.

Not enough time to make a dossier!

It's the problem every shared universe has. "Where was this superhero when this happened?". It is what it is. I like that they're at least going back and showing where he was at the time.

To be fair, Batman historically hasn't faced earth threatening situations. Most of his adversaries can be contained in a single asylum and the extent of their evil plans are holding the city for ransom or poisoning the city's water supply. At his core he is a street level enforcer. All of his JL adventures involve other heavy hitting heroes. No one has seen anything like Superman yet so how can he be prepared for anything remotely like him? Now that he's had time, he has the resources to intervene and directly confront Supes.

I don't see them turning 2 quality batman villains and turning them Into one

I can hope. I think the thought of him being a more Joker type character is cool. It would be a way to make something new. The Jason Todd story is such a great one. I would hate for them to do something that was so obvious, like putting him a red mask. This would be a cool way to keep the story fresh and not so obvious. (IE Arkham Knight)

It's obvious if you know the story

But the red hood has never gotten main screen time.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the fact that Batman has already retired and when Suicide Squad will take place. Has Batman run into The Joker before? I'm guessing they have and that's why he's in prison. The Joker scenes in Suicide Squad are just flashbacks, I guess. There's still a good Joker story to tell if they follow The Dark Knight Returns story line.

There are some interesting theories out there regarding this Joker. I wouldn't have a problem if they went the Jason Todd route. For me the best aspect of the Jason Todd story line was that he was beaten down by The Joker. This would fit given all of the tattoos, etc. For me, he doesn't have to be in a red mask to make it a good story.

I'm pretty sure the people hating Lex are in the 50+ crowd

Yeah, cause 50 year olds are really invested in a fricking comic book movie like young fan boys.

I'm almost 40 and could give a shite if Lex is CEO of Google or Gene Hackman's doppelgänger.

Most of the bitching on here is by young guys.

How's this?

The movies are based on comic books which have very little in the way of reasonable continuity and character reactions.

Where was Batman in all of the Superman comics prior to the Justice League? Probably in the same spot as he was for MoS.

Born in 1965

That means they were around for the comic book era as a kid

And were about 24 whenever Batman 89 came out

I bet there are a ton of 50 year old batman fanboys

To be fair, it sounds like Batman has been in retirement for awhile. So he would've been an out of shape, middle aged man whose gadgets have been collecting dust for several years. And I doubt he can build that armored suit within 48 hours. I would think something like that would probably take several months just to create the blueprints for, much less build.
