Those fake muscles on the suit look retarded.

We are playing him 45 or 46. He has been Batman for 20 years. All the history is there. Was there a Robin at one time? Possibly… He has lost those near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age of disease…” still not sure how I feel about this move though. I mean you've basically set yourself up to have to reboot him once again in a few years despite the fact that you're just now launching a new universe

Nah, you can get the same Juice that marvel got out of RDJ and instead of rebooting you start a Nightwing franchise and double dip into the Batman well.

I would say the same about a red cape a boots, but Supes pulls it off.

It's a little different when you are an invincible flying alien that openly patrols during the day as opposed to a human that relies on stealth and the cover of night.

I like the idea of allowing a hero to age. Think about Spider Man. In the comics, he ages, gets married, divorced, etc. but we never get to see any depth of character on screen because they want him permantly young in the movies. Batman has a great character history, and I'd rather see this than another relaunch.

Best thing about it is we don't have to spend an entire movie about how he becomes batman

“We want to assume that Batman has reached this point in his life and career as a superhero, and Superman represents a sort of philosophical change. He is a paradigm shift for Batman: ‘I’ve been fighting criminals all my life, trying to find justice, and now I am confronted with a concept that is transcendent to me.’ In the face of Superman, a man robbing a bank doesn’t matter.”

So where was Batman during Man of Steel?

(I mean I know we're going to see Bruce in the city, but they better be able to adjust for why Batman didn't suit up and try to save the day as any superhero would have in that moment. And it has to be a good reason.)

He was retired and hadn't been actively training for at least a few years. The events of MoS inspired him to get back in fighting shape. shite went down pretty fast in MoS.

I think the fact that he was in the city is a good enough reason for me. He didn't have a suit yet that could compete with Superman or Zod. He would have been killed instantly by Zod, plus they were in the air fighting. He was on the ground trying to save people.

Good reason.

Pretty convenient however.

This would make Batman a pretty terrible hero And a pretty terrible Batman.

"Meh, I don't think I can win this fight and I have no idea who these aliens are. I'm out. People can fend for themselves. Oh and I'm taking my dossiers with me!"

This is why I think they're going to make Jason Todd The Joker. I think he's already faced the actual Joker and Jason Todd is going to be influenced by him turning into Leto's Joker.

If you look at it that way, sure. I look at as "WTF is going on?!!! I better save as many people as I can instead of heading back to Gotham to get my suit to fight a superhuman alien."

The dude is Batman. He has suits everywhere, probably in his helicopter, in his office in Metropolis, in his briefcase, etc.

You don't abandon saving people just by donning the mask, that is in fact why you don the mask.

To be fair, the events in Man of Steel happen in less than a 48 hour period, to where I don't know what Batman could have done. Maybe he and Luthor were developing some sort of weapon against them when they attacked Metropolis?

While I think Jason Todd will use the Joker as inspiration for his alter ego, I don't think they'll go with him being the actual Joker.

Fair enough. I'm fine with the explanation that he's in retirement. He didn't have a suit nearby. Now he's back in action. The events in MOS is triggering intervention from other heroes, villains, etc. I think that's the only way to do it.

Watch this LINK

He brings up some interesting thoughts. I think it's a possibility.

I'm very aware of the story. I just think it's a possibility that they will take a step further and make him a full fledged Joker.
