There’s been some really terrible arguments online about Fielder being manipulative in these shows and how the show is bad because of it
Mostly I think it’s just think piece writers looking for their next big think piece and who either have no concept of Nathan Fielder or had never seen the show but needed to get a take off
All those people got crushed by a wave of people telling them to STFU I can’t see how you can watch the people in these shows being absolute batshit and volunteering completely and being like “wow Nathan is really making these guys seem crazy!” they’ve found some of the most innocuously insane people you can

I feel like this is leading towards like an entire town or something where everything is rehearsed and performed and each episode is building a piece of it (Canes, the bar, the farm/house)

Yeah it’s dumb like I said
the main person who started the whole thing was talking about the Scion guy, and somehow they got the impression from the Vice article that he was just manipulated into looking like an a-hole on TV. The person later admitted they never have seen the show and solely went on the Vice article (which is insane because the dude comes off even crazier in that article than the show) Plus it’s essentially reality TV at some level, which is the purest form of manipulation entertainment and no one ever seems to have a problem with that

I don’t buy that at all. That’s not Nathan’s forte. He’s building a fake construct around real people. This isn’t a sitcom in that sense

Yes… the shite that came out of their mouths and interactions were too extreme not to be.
Out of all of the people this far, the first guy he helped was the most likely to be legit. He didn’t say anything overly weird or crazy.

You do realize that all reality tv is scripted too, right?
