I don't see how it can match season 1 and 2 going forward. The guy that played Pablo did a fantastic job.

I enjoyed season 2 but was more than ready for the Pablo storyline to end, I felt like they dragged it on more than necessary

The next season apparently is all about the Cali cartel. One of my favorite shows on Netflix so far for sure.

Yeah, last few episodes of season 2 were just waiting for them to wrap the story up. But it wasn't terrible. Just not nearly as good as season 1 and the first half of season 2.

I'm wondering if the Cali Cartel will be able to top Pablo.

Plus I don't know if Javier and Steve were involved with taking Cali down IRL or not but I think they still need to keep those two characters on board.

Season 2 took some much bigger leaps into fiction than season 1 did. I don't think they are worried about keeping this into "based on true events" show. They are just making a drama now. Could be better, could be worse

True.

Hope next season is good, but it's going to be weird not having Pablo around. And I'd like to see a season about El Chapo somewhere down the road.

Yeah, it dragged a bit. But I think it did a great job of showing how someone with so much money, so many resources, and so many supporters can have that taken away piece by agonizing piece. So I think they did a great job in showing how more and more isolated he became and just how alone he was at the end.

The Cali Cartel, at their peak, was the largest crime syndicate to ever exist. Since they were so much more spread out than the Medellin cartel globally we might see more than just Columbia. They also controlled almost 90% of the cocaine distribution in the world at their brief peak.
I don't know if any of the characters will match up to Pablo though.

Also I think Javier was involved with their takedown but not Steve. And the show seems to suggest that as well.

I don't know how they would have a whole feature season on El Chapo because it's so recent. They couldn't film in the locations either. But maybe they might mention him towards the end.
