you can argue Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang pretty easily as well with the Christmas Tree scene in Lethal Weapon and the fact that in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang he robs a toy store to get that toy on his kids Christmas list...but they don't have the overall Christmas theme that Die Hard has.

That's pretty good but there are 4 Die Hard and 4 Home Alone sequels not 3. (yes I know you didn't make it but it must be at least pre Russian Die Hard)

It is a Christmas movie:
- the main hero was in town because it was Christmas
- the villain was hitting the tower because it was Christmas (the building would be least populated)
- the hostages were in the building because of a Christmas party
- there were multiple references to Christmas by both groups (McClain; Theo; Hanz; ...)
- there was a prominent Christmas song at the start and end of the movie
Could it have occurred at a different time of the year? Not without some changes... Why else would an estranged John McClain be in town? What other event would've cleared out the headquarters of a multinational corporation yet still called for the CEO to be in the building?

If Die Hard is first and foremost an action movie, the terrorists actually add to the Christmas story rather than subtract from it. You may wish to qualify it as a “Christmas Action Movie” but that still plants it firmly in the Christmas category. Hans Gruber's plot requires it to be the Christmas holiday.

If Die Hard is a Christmas movie, then so is Trading Places.

In fairness, that was the U.S. HQ (Nakatomi was based in Japan and Takagi was president of the U.S. office).

So...it is typical for all of the employees of Nakatomi to be together in the office after hours like that (including Joe Takagi). He was the President of an international corporation based in Japan...but, I'm sure he was working after hours a lot in Los Angeles with the rest of the upper management. It could have been any week night and was just a coincidence that Hanz Gruber hit them during the Christmas party...it wasn't integral to the plot at all.

Die Hard is under the "Holiday Classics for Sale" category on Amazon.
Case Closed.

How about Gremlins? Is that a Christmas movie?
(Of course we all know that it is, I just wanted to see how much of an idiot you are)

I've always wondered why USC was playing Notre Dame on Christmas Eve.
