Great movie in general. I couldn't breath during the whole raid scene. That shite was intense and incredible.

Just walked through the door from watching it. Loved it. I just don't believe that this is the way that Bin Laden was killed though. Why would our US Government allow this in as much detail be released. I think he is dead but not how this movie portrays it happened.

Exactly.
That's why it's the best movie I've seen in years.
Action at times but lots of stuff to keep up with and magnificent pacing and acting.

I didn't come out thinking it was the greatest movie I had ever seen or anything; however, I thought it was good.
I will say I was surprised it was so pro America as I usually expect some criticism or poor portrayal of this era in regards to the military from Hollywood.
As I left the movie I was not ashamed of how it depicted America throughout the ordeal. I do question the timing of this movie. I believe it would have been better for more time to pass before the making of this movie. The timing makes it come across too much like Murica is rubbing the rest of the world's face in how awesome this country is in our affairs.

I didn't get that at all. I thought it was much more existential struggle than that.

Well if there was any sort of a raid, that is exactly how it would've went down. They definitely had some top notch experts consulting that scene.
Raids and firefights in real life are completely different than what happens in the movies. Especially in a MOUT environment, movements are methodical and thorough.
Like one of my old instructors said, "don't be in a hurry to get shot in the face"

Have you seen all of the movies from 2012, or at least all those that have garnered award nominations? I'm currently reviewing them and I'm still not anywhere near done. I've spent the last two days pretty much non stop watching the award nominees to try and at least have a chance to finish and still not there. You're way ahead of me.
Just my opinion, I don't think it's the best movie of 2012.

What is, then? In your opinion. Just curious. I've only seen ZDT once, but I'd say either it or The Master is my favorite movie of the year.

I haven't seen Master yet, that's great news, can't wait to see it. I still have about 6 movies to watch to say for sure which movie is my favorite of the year, or at least the top two. Zero Dark Thirty is definitely one of the top movies overall, though, there's no doubt about that for me.

I can't remember that the last time I watched a movie scene as intently as I did that raid scene.

i got a screener and watched it at my place friday night.... it was amazing... i was kinda thrown off by how the helicopter crashed and it didnt draw more attention.
also i was thrown off by how slow the raid looked like it was going... but then i realized it was not your typical raid.
give the movie a solid 8/10
enjoyed the shite out of it.
if the media is saying it glorified torture then they must have not watched the movie

The raid went down almost exactly as described in No Easy Day, which the government tried to block from being released

Great review. I saw the movie yesterday and was completely absorbed. The movie is intense as it gets, well paced. When it seems it MIGHT lag in pace (it never does), the director throws in something gut wrenching. I was afraid when I heard about it that it was going to be tribute to the current administration, but this is totally about the grind of the years of work put into finding and killing UBL. Great acting. Not sure if I would vote it over Lincoln but enjoyed both immensely.
Just watched ZDT,movie was awsome. I loved the detail of all of the investigation, and the searching. Its amazing how small details being missed earlier in the investigation added years to finally finding him. The raid was thrilling.

I thought Chastain did a good job of being a strong woman without coming off as a bitch which is very hard to do. It was one of the reasons I was hesitant to see the movie. Her moley friend who got herself killed not inspecting the dialysis guy fit that stereotype. I liked the movie but it was way too long. No movies should be more than 2 hr 15 minutes. If there is that much story to tell, make a sequel. I wish they would have shown his face. That pissed me off almost as much as them not showing the shooting in Lincoln. They also did a piss poor job of lighting the scenes. I'm sure they did it for dramatic effect but it made everything blurry and I don't just mean the raid scenes. You can barely see Mya in the dark hallway. While a good film, I don't think it deserves any awards. She did a hell of a better job than Natalie Portman when she won but she never should have (looking sad and using eye drops is hardly Oscar-worthy).

The torture scenes were tame to me. I guess I saw too many Saw movies.
