Obviously my thoughts will be biased to some degree, but I thought it was great. I know some people may not like the way parts of the movie may have jumped or what not. But I feel the after effects of war when you are back at garrison or home is something the public should see and I thought Eastwood did a great job of showing that. You can see how easily certain noises bothered Kyle when he was back home. The scene at the tire shop was proof of this imo. I could finally see these irritations within myself since some things aggravate me today. I had trouble noticing these things when I first came back from my first and maybe my last deployment. the film did a good job of showing how the enemy can be and can adapt to our ttp's. kyle went above and beyond what he was supposed to do. Bradley cooper did an outstanding job and even put on 40 pounds of muscle for the role. God bless you Chris Kyle. Anyone noticed the ranger scroll, then airborne tab, then ranger tab on the other sniper? All in all a damn good movie

The most insane weight gain I've ever heard of is Rich Piana who cycled HGH and a cocktail of steroids and testosterone for a year. Couple that with his insane diet and sleep schedule and you get 47# of muscle. Bradley Cooper did not put on 40# of muscle.

Don't mind the petty criticisms. Ever since this movie came out there have been some people microanalyzing every detail to find some way to tear the movie apart. Sure, like every movie, it has its flaws and inaccuracies, but overall is was a damn good film that succeeded in accomplishing what it set out to do. The silent theaters after each showing are a testament to that.

My critique had nothing to do with the film, just that the muscle gain claim is absurd.

Agreed I could hear a pin drop bc that's how quiet it was. Never been to Iraq, just Afghanistan although my reserve unit did ask me if I wanted to volunteer to mobilize to west Africa

SPOILER (If you haven't seen it)

Why did he point the gun at his wife in the end before he left for the range with the troubled vet? Was that to somehow show that he could laugh at his own self for having been on the edge with his PTSD? I would never expect a vet like Kyle to do something like that, and I'm not sure why Cooper and Eastwood would send the character out like that....

Hell, I was half expecting a "BOOM!" flag to pop out of the damn thing, to be honest...

It could be. Personally I thought he was just gonna play cowboys and Indians with his kids until he signaled them to be quiet.

He was just playing sexually with his wife.. I don't think it's anything more than that

Talking about the pistol scene? That was just bizarre imo.

I would be a bit irritated if I was the defense lawyer of the guy going to trial for Kyle's murder. He may look that creepy, but they sure as hell stereotyped that character as much as possible.

I just find it a bit funny that Selma was given so much crap for dramatizing history in her film, but I haven't heard a peep about this movie, when the book has already been proven to be riddled with inaccuracies and outright lies.

It was a good movie though.

Kill yourself

I really enjoyed the movie, but like most movies I intend or see, I shielded myself from anything to do with it until I saw it. I knew he died at the shooting range, but that's it. After it was over though, and I started reading about it--and more importantly, Chris--I feel like they likely totally whitewashed his character. He was much more fricked up--if not downright batshit crazy. And apparently he was not nearly as modest as the film makes him out to be(making up stories and whatnot).

I loved the film, but was disappointed when I read about Chris afterward. They should have either made a more real biographical movie or just used his story as a template for a fictional account. I don't like all the blurry lines. It takes away from both the film and filmmakers and Chris himself.

But is the American public really ready to see that? I mean you are right his mental health was worse than what the movie showed. I just don't think the public is ready to see that yet?

It matters whether one movie is accurate. For the other, it doesn't. I'll let you guess which is which.
