I was watching Mad Men and there is a scene where the editor obviously put the cut frames in backwards...

As seen below all the coat pockets are in the correct placement (left side of coat) then for about 4 seconds they all are on the right side (which I've never seen in real life), the buttons reverse also.. (also from the screenshot the room is easily seen in reverse...)

This is season 2 Episode 8 (6:25 in)

Any one else catch anything like this?

Or just not give a damn...

this happens a number of times in the original Star Trek

one shot, the part in shatner's toupee is on the left, then suddenly it's on the right

There were a couple in The Other Guys with Will Ferrel that I noticed. In one part of the movie Ferrel fell off something, I forget what, and they had a semi wide shot with him and Marky Mark laying on the ground with his wooden gun laying about 4 feet away. They cut to a closer shot and the wooden gun is in Ferrel's holster. Then they cut back again and the gun's on the ground.

In another part the right rear door of his car switched from red to white.

They take so long to edit these movies, how do they miss some of them?

The show Southland recently had one where Ben McKenzie's partner made a big deal about McKenzie driving to the next call, which was the first time he let McKenzie drive, yet when they pull up to the next call the partner is the driver.

Because there are so many different scenes and camera angles.

We noticed in an episode of King of Queens that they exchanged a Civil War dvd set with a WWI set. It wouldn't have been so obvious if they hadn't talked about it specifically. It had to have been shot on two different days because every time the camera angle switched, so did the dvd set.

One of the things that sticks out in ID4 is when Will is leaving Vivica after being recalled. He is standing at the car and his shoulder board on his greens is over his collar. Then it cuts to him again, it is under, then it is over the collar again.

All of which is crap because any real marine would not leave the house with his uniform all ate up.

Few Good Men when the Marine saluted indoors while uncovered. My fellow Jarheads know what I'm talking about.

It's my favorite show ever but I catch little mistakes in Seinfeld all the time. Nothing important just details

its not up to the editor to take care of this .. its the on set crew (props/on set dresser) and ultimately the script supervisor to monitor continuity .. a close eye and diligent team will help with the mistakes.

Now, saluting incorrectly and the like .... that's on the producers if they don't pony up for a military expert to be on set ...

i watched shawshank the other day for the first time in a while and it some glaring issues ... one of which was a Hank williams album that was his greatest hits .. that is all on the Art department and them not doing their homework. That album came out 30 years after the date in the movie.

according to the interwebz hank williams greatest hits was recorded btwn 47 and 52. shawshank takes places in 46 meaning the murder happens then, and his jail stay is after. so it could be consistent.

now if you're talking about hank williams jr, then yes there'd probably be 30 yrs of difference there.

From the internet:
In the library, Heywood is listening to Hank Williams' "Lovesick Blues." He is playing the double LP "Hank Williams 24 Greatest Hits," which was originally released by MGM in 1970. "Lovesick Blues" was recorded long before this, but it is not possible for him to have acquired that particular 1970 double LP.

There are a lot of references they make in The Wedding Singer that don't match the date. They generalized the 80's into one year, for the most part.

And I think in Back to the Future, when Marty dresses up like Darth Vader to freak his dad (in the past) out, he uses a hair dryer that hadn't been invented yet.

Script supervisor seems like a hard-arse job.
