Not really.

With the high amount of flashback sequences it's easy to get chronology confused.

You do realize that he first learned to fly maybe 6 hours before Zod came to town?

That he spent most of his life suppressing his abilities and hiding them....not honing them.

What lifetime of experience advantage are you referring to?

In this version, which is counter to everything we know about Superman.

Which is why I agreed with critics, too much carnage, too little story development

So you are pointing out a "plothole" because a reboot is inconsistent with established works?

Pretty sure he learned to fly a little more than 6 hours before Zod arrived. He obviously knew he could traverse great distance quickly before that, he just never said frick it and did it for any reason other than just to do it.

The basis for the time stamp is that he is telling his mother about his biological parents when Zod comes.

Might not be hours, but we are talking at most weeks though.

Again, not like he had a lifetime of experience pressing his limits.

How does Zod know what a farm is? Krypton looked like a giant rock.

Yes, obviously that's it.

He also just felt like swimming to shore after the oil rig blew. Gave him time to think.

Also considered hitchhiking to be a character building experience.

They had to eat something....

Maybe their capital was in an area analogous geologically to Arizona.

1) it probably looked like that because it was on the edge of destruction

2) They obviously knew a lot about other planets, and Earth. Even if their civilization had evolved past the need to farm, they would still know what the term meant

Really, an alien race that has colonized and prospered for 18,000 years wouldn't know what a farm is? Really??

But a farm like one in rural Kansas? And I just always though Krypton was baren. Even in the movie it was said that its a much more harsh environment but whatever.

I think this movie is a great example of critics missing the point. They wanted the same feel that Donner gave. Synder and Nolan were never going to give them that.

I like a more brooding Superman. He can be a symbol of hope and still have an edge. This also sets the stage for a more intelligent Superman than previously. Hopefully, in the JL movie he is not dumbed down to make Batman relevant.

I agree with 59% on RT. I liked the back story about Krypton, its people, and his suit. But wasn't sure about him being a hermit and then the big battle at the end. Was a bit over the top.

Anytime Supes is in the Fortress of Solitude, it usually a good thing for the character. I have a feeling we are going to see more elements of stories like All-Star Superman in the future of the franchise.

That and reality

There is no way a teenager is going to make it out of his teen years without testing his limits. That's the whole reason for Jonathan Kents role; tone down Supe so the world wont send him packing

You cannot possibly believe that he waited til 33 to attempt flight? That's why the rating is so low. Too many plot holes, in an attempt to make a darker Superman. It doesn't work with Superman. Hes about the best of mankind, unlike Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark

Actually, Bruce Wayne is about being the best of mankind, the peak human. The motivation of that was the death of his parents, but even so, the forever loved Nolan trilogy is about a symbol of hope.

To be fair, isn't that more of a testament to what mankind is today? We are darker(figuratively) as a society than ever before, so shouldn't the "best/brightest" be darker. Also, Kal-El is always mirroring human behavior so it makes sense.

This film will be more appreciated going forward, but the same people who moan about the Big Blue BoyScout seem to be the same people saying he isn't Donnerish enough.

Give me a new interpretation of the character anyday of the week,if they are going reboot a comic franchise.
