no Sleeping Beauty? Or SNOW WHITE?! Yet theres a place for Mulan and Fox and the Hound? THIS TOURNEY IS RIGGED!!!)

i did that to possibly have a sleeper (trying hard not to use the word cinderella)... maybe it was a mistake on my part. but fox and the hound is getting quite a few votes.

You want a sleeper? The Rescuers. Mulan is one of the worst of the "modern" Disneys and Fox and the Hound might be the worst Disney film ever made. It's certainly in the running, as it was in that era where they just cranked out movies with the same voice actors over and over (Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone, etc).

I just think you picked the top Pixar films and made an effort NOT to pick the best Disney films. If I had a bracket of Disney films, these might not make the Elite 8.

Hey hey hey, i freakin LOVED fox and the hound. i dont know what all that jibberish was about.

and i searched "best classic disney movies" and mulan came up a ton on a bunch of msg boards. thats the reason i put it on there.
but honestly... how do you come up with a fair way to rank them?? a site called metacritic had a point system for movies, but i couldnt find their rating on classic disney. i guess i could have looked up all 46 of ems imdb rating and took the top eight, but just being honest, i didnt feel like doing all that.

Up won't get far, Incredibles has way too much popular appeal. I love both dearly, but like I said before, I think Up is straight up brilliant film making, and is the best thing Pixar has ever done.

As much as I do love the film for the effect it had on me as a kid, this is hard to disagree with. The movie is terrible.

I'd break it up into three eras and take some films from each. The Walt Era, the post-Walt Era, and the Rennaissance. The post-Walt Era before the Rennaissance is universally regarded as Disney's Dark Ages, so I would only take one film: Sleeping Beauty, which is sort of iconic.

From the Walt Era, you take his favorite (Snow White), the technical marvel which is by far the most unique Disney film (Fantasia), his last film (Jungle Book), and one more iconic film (Cinderella).

From the Modern Era, you take the film which spawned the Renaissance (Little Mermaid), the film nominated for Best Picture (Beauty and the Beast), and the most iconic (Lion King).

That would give a nice balance between eras and each film has a sepcific reason for being selected. I could see cutting my personal favorite, the Jungle Book, for another middle period film, but why? Those movies were made on the cheap and it sort of shows. I still love them (particularly the Rescuers), but the quality of Disney movies obviously dipped between 1960 and 1990.

You still miss Peter Pan and Pinnochio, but the old era is well represented. You also miss Alladin, but that would come at one of the other three moderns, and I don't see it, or at the only middle period film, Sleeping Beauty. Actually, the omission of Sleeping Beauty is unconscionable.

I blame the Selection Committee for relying to heavily on the RPI.

I agree. There are so many good ones... i loved Rescuers Down Under, the Great Mouse Detective, crap i loved Treasue Planet for that matter. The list needed to include em all to make everybody happy. But i just wanted to do a -vs- with Pixar.
