The creative clash, according to one insider, also came down to differences in understanding the character of Han Solo. “People need to understand that Han Solo is not a comedic personality. He’s sarcastic and selfish,” said that source.

When I first heard that they weren't directing it anymore I was fairly ambivalent but now I'm breathing a sigh of relief.

They've done good work but that's not a good fit for Han Solo.

I agree. Star Wars movies have enough wooden cringeworthy jokes, we dont need more of it.

Give us a raw, gritty Solo movie.

Woah, super good news then. Sounds like these guys have one way to make a film.

But wouldn't it be hilarious if Han and Lando had witty slightly inappropriate banter in the midst of life threatening situations?

Well this apparently is good news. But if they are already halfway through filming and working with a script and cast in the mold of Jump-Street (if these guys had that level of control), I wonder if the film can be truly salvaged.

Solo's arc as a character is already complete, and a great one at that (now that TFA finally completed it). From the start this should have been a gritty film that exploited Solo's alpha personality and motivations of self-preservation. I hope they do not backtrack on his original arc and emphasize this.

I feel like the way Han Solo should be portrayed is as a dirt bag who reluctantly does the right thing either to get rich or to get Leid. He is an outlaw after all.

A little bit of Korban Dallas mixed in with Jack Colton, and a sprinkling of John Constantine.

If that makes any sense.

Makes perfect sense to me. Han Solo is absolutely a self-interested space pirate/slimeball before he joins the Rebellion. A real nerf herder, if you will.

I want a movie about how he swindles and deceives his way out of things, not how he's basically just a different galaxy's Star Lord.

That's probably what prompted the issue.

Kasdan wrote the script. They were probably destroying it.

And after as well. That's one of my favorite scenes in TFA. He used a hired crew as bait to get the Rathtars on board. They all died.

He took contracts from two different groups, pocketed the money, and was on the way to deliver the aliens to a third group.

The Millennium Falcon wasn't even his ship. He swindled it from Lando.

He gets the Falcon back from Rey and the first thing he tell Chewy is to throw them in a pod and jettison them to the nearest planet.

Didn't Joss Whedon already do that character with Malcolm Reynolds

All of that plus his kid grew up and was rebellious and what did Han do?

He bailed on that shite.

I love Han Solo but he's definitely selfish as hell.

Good points.

One of my biggest concerns about this movie is how much of an a-hole they make Han. He needs to be a big one.

Well the cast Donald glover as lando. That should have been a red flag.

I wish they would have put the breaks on abrams making Finn a comedic character. Only part I didn't like about VII

Lord and Miller's next move is not immediately clear, but already rumors are circulating that the pair could return to The Flash, Warners' movie about the DC Comics hero to which they had been attached to helm several years ago. The project is currently on the hunt for a director.

I don't want a 21 Jump Street or Sausage Party type of Flash movie either.
