Not Miller and Lords fault. They made the kind of movie they make. It's Lucas Films fault for hiring them.
Ehh... when you hire a director and they refuse to do certain things you tell them to do then yea, it's ultimately their fault. It's not their movie franchise, it's not their script, these aren't characters they developed. A director does have to listen to the studio and producers and anyone who would think they would get full creative freedom on a major tent pole franchise like Star Wars is delusional. shite, the cast apparently was happy they got canned.

Depends what the director was told when he was hired. If you're told that you have creative control and the final cut, then studio intrusion would be the studio going against the original deal.

They look like total douchebags.
So that probably had something to do with it.

I trust Kennedy and Kasdan implicitly with handling this story, but WTF is going on? How could they shite the bed so badly on directorial and casting choices?

The Star Wars Han Solo spin-off has reportedly descended into further chaos, after it was claimed that acting coaches were hired to mentor leading actor Alden Ehrenreich.
Last week, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller left the origins project after reportedly experiencing “deep fundamental differences” with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and scriptwriter Lawrence Kasdan.
Now, it’s claimed that acting coaches were brought in during their time on the project after studio bosses became unsatisfied with the performance that they had received from leading man Alden Ehrenreich.
A report in the Hollywood Reporter claims: “Not entirely satisfied with the performance that the directors were eliciting from Rules Don’t Apply star Alden Ehrenreich, Lucasfilm decided to bring in an acting coach. Hiring a coach is not unusual; hiring one that late in production is.”

if ehrenreich can't turn in a good performance then the project is doomed. if they messed up the casting on this then that really is amazing...every young actor in hollywood wanted this role.
