Dicaprio's almost always sucked as an actor. I'm not sure when it became the "in" thing to state otherwise. Maybe in the mid-2000's I guess. He's gotten better, don't get me wrong...but the bar started off REALLY low for him.

So how often is he overrated?

The variance in opinions of people that don't think he is a great actor is pretty interesting. Earlier in the thread, someone claimed his best role was What's Eating Gilbert Grape, which was one of his first movies, and he hasn't been close since. You have said that the bar started extremely low for him and he has gotten better.

It appears that I don't have to.

Man I love Leo. I like when he does the Kobe Bryant after hitting a big 3-pointer face.

He's trying to hard for an Oscar
He's had the movies and scripts to get him there especially with the Aviator and Hoover one

If the script is written where his character is intense, how is he to blame?

OP has lost his mind.

Leo is on his way to becoming the GOAT actor.

THE GOAT? I don't think so. One of the GOATS? maybe. takes zero chances. He's set himself up in a bankable position to choose his projects too. He's good in the roles he does but they're not that diverse. I'm not sure he'd crack my top 20.

How can you claim (with a straight face) I've lost my mind when you just called Leo the GOAT actor?

Those last 3 gifs are terrible examples of overacting. Especially that last one

When has Leo taken a role outside his typical role or comfort zone? Don't get me wrong, I don't blame him for the path he's taken but right now he just comes off as good leading man like a Cruise or Ford.

I think he tends to be over the top but his roles often require that. So I dunno.

I prefer Tom Cruise

This thread is a joke. Leo is one of the best actors working.

He's on his way. He's only 40.

The man knows exactly what roles to take and always delivers a great performance. He doesn't take any BS role like most actors just to get a big check. And the roles he takes on are extremely challenging.
