Probably been asked before but I love this damn movie, great actors and came out very well. Liked it more myself because I have two brothers as well and could see a connection like that with us. What are your thoughts?
(ETA: Plus good soundtrack> LINK)

Shia labeouf sucks in real life. Not too bad on big screen

I liked it, just wish that Gary Oldman would have played a larger role in the story. He had a cool character going.

This movie was pretty awesome IMO. I don't see how people did not like this movie. Great action, great actors, and I agree the soundtrack was pretty excellent

fricking brutal movie based on a true story as told by the grandson of Shia Lebeouf's character. I absolutely enjoyed it.

Not so much. I read the book earlier this year (The Wettest County in the World.) It's a fictional story that the grandson spun sort of "imagining" how it might have been...set against the backdrop of some real life historical events. (Yes, plenty of the characters were based on real people.)

And yes, the book was shockingly brutal. Haven't seen the movie.

I didn't like it but a lot of that might be because I was forced to see it. I thought it was poorly advertised filler. Objectively speaking, it was ok

The distinction I was trying to make was he basically just made up his family stuff vs the historical events having pretty much happened. I think I even remember the notes at the end saying he never met some of the people he wrote about from their perspective.

It was pretty pulpy and some of the scenes were just outright chilling. Did the movie have the black funeral scene?

I don't recall a black funeral.
