I've noticed that Val has been appearing in a good six movies a year for a while now, all of them going straight to video.

With the exception of bit parts in Bad Lieutenant or Deja Vu, has he actually been in anything decent since the mid 90's?

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Robert Downey Jr. was very good.

Haven't seen this yet.

Does he have a featured role, or a bit part?

He has a featured role and is awesome in it. It is kind of weird that he and Downey were really in about the same place career wise when that movie came out. Both were great in it, but one's career took off and one's career fell off of a cliff.

Go watch it right away. Shane Black's best work. And yes, Val is featured.

Come to think of it Kiss Kiss is the most recent thing I've seen him in and that was 2005.

Both were also on my personal Top 20 of the 00s list.

It's because guys like Kilmer and Cuba Gooding have agents that are basically signing them on for any project that's willing to cut a check. I think it's hard for studios to take Kilmer seriously if they know that his name is synonymous with Redbox.

Just like when I'm browsing new flicks and see one with Cuba Gooding, it seems destined to disappoint. Tom Berenger as well, now that I think about it.

All of you are forgetting Bad Lieutenant which was good. Although he had more of a supporting role in it.

I haven't seen it yet. To me Bad Lieutenant is still Harvey Keitel.

It isn't his bad agent. Dude put on 100 pounds and that has probably hurt his ability to get A list movies.
