I haven't seen it yet. To me Bad Lieutenant is still Harvey Keitel.

I saw that the other day too. Holy shite what an awesome movie. And Keital fricking nailed it. It is better than Herzog's version (though I still really like this one) but they really are two very different movies. The original is about redemption while the "remake" is just about a fricking nutso cop who does drugs and beats up people.

Dude put on 100 pounds and that has probably hurt his ability to get A list movies.
which is kind of sad since actors are praised for gaining weight for specific roles

Christian Bale regularly drops 100 lbs for roles, and gains it back in lean muscle two weeks later.

Kilmer should just get a gastric bypass, and then find the same steroids dealer that Bale uses.

He was really good (or as good as Val can be) in The Saint.

I didn't realize he was making all of those awful movies over the last few years.

Could taking roles in straight-to-video movies be a sign of him just giving up?

Is it the equivolent to a professional athlete who was once great looking at his job as nothing more than that and continuing to playfor just the check?

Is he the Allen Iverson or Gilbert Arenas of acting? They both became average because of their phyysical condition (age/injuries).

Him playing Doc Holliday in Tombstone was one of my favorite characters in a movie.

Buddy of mine in the film industry here in Louisiana mentions all of the actors that were once popular, but are now down here doing bit parts for peanuts.

Granted, he's earning an honest living, so more power to him for collecting a check. But if these guys can no longer earn one big check a year, I guess they're going to do five or six obscure movies annually just to pay the bills.

I thought Red Planet was a pretty good flick. That came out in 2000.

I can't believe that this thread has gone on this long and no one mentioned Spartan.

That's probably one of the top 3 movies that he has ever been in for sure.
