J. Edgar, Jersey Boys, Hereafter, and American Sniper weren't that great.

I liked Jersey Boys but I'm a big Four Seasons fan and loved the play

He has a real knack as a director of making very watchable movies that aren't hideously expensive and generally turn a healthy profit.

His movies just have an appeal to them that makes me want to watch. I liked Sully. I didn't think it was outstanding but it was solid and the scenes of the plane in the air were well done.

He is solid. Honestly if he got a big tent pole movie I think he'd do great. Instead he turns out fairly low budget but extremely watchable movies.

Just from seeing the previews, the plot seemed to hinge on the crash and then a tough investigation?

Was there ever a tough investigation? I mean IRL it seemed the world was just sucking his dick the minute this happened? Both engines fail and nobody died, what was there to question?

I was also unaware that he faced FAA scrutiny. Their question was whether he needed to ditch in the Hudson when they had done numerous landings at a nearby airport in simulators. I'm not sure how Hollywooded the script was, but there's a great moment at the hearing that vindicates him.

the majority of regular citizens including myself are unaware of any scrutiny or controversy of Sully. When I saw the previews I was uninterested bc I know he lands the plane and I know he's still considered a hero. I can't bring myself to be interested in the movie although it's probably well done.
