At first, sfp was the only one bitching about true detective, but as the season progressed to the last few episodes, more people joined him. The first half of the season was much better, and the last episode really let me down. As someone else !mentioned, the acting and production was top notch, and it really covered up a lot of faults in the writing.

The series reminded me a lot of James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux novels.

some of the best all around material ive seen in years
add that to the creepy south Louisiana atmosphere and it was near perfect
cant wait for future seasons but doubt they will top season 1
