Just finished Season 4 of Dexter........possible spoilers

I know some of you have said it has the worst ending to a series ever. Should I quit now or push through the last few seasons. That last episode messed me up.

Season 5 is decent (began the downfall towards the end) but I would stop after that one.
Season 7 also had some strong parts but you have to sit through a lot of crap to get it.

first time through I quit there... last month I watched it all the way through... while stupid yes, I think it gets WAYYYY to much flack. I enjoyed the last few seasons tbh. Not as much as the first few but it's not like I was dying for it to end

I'd stop after 4. 5 and 6 are OK, 7 is a steaming pile of horse shite.
I think the ending of season 4 would have been the perfect place to end the series. Born in blood, just like dexter. It would have led me to believe that the kid could end up being the next dexter

When you finish the series be sure to look up "Dexter original ending. Just know that the original show runner and executive producer left after the 4th season and had a very different season finale in mind and I think it would have been immensely satisfying.

Just did, and man that would've been soooo much better. I believed they copped out with the ending they went with. While I don't hate any season (there's something enjoyable even in the not so great ones), I do think the final one suffers due to its cowardly ending.

I never understood the whole “stop at season whatever” thing. Just watch the show through. Everyone’s tastes are different. If there’s a reason you watched a show through 3-4 seasons as it is, why not just finish and decide for yourself?

I am a few episodes away from finishing the series for the second time. Wanted to show the series to my gf. I will say that I have enjoyed it soooo much more the second time around. I don’t have as much hate for Deb and have a lot more sympathy. Her life sucks

Bump.
Just finished Dexter in its entirety.
Man, that was an absolutely horrible end. Nothing redeemable about it. I knew or was going to be bad but it really stumped me just how bad it was. Just throw his whole character arc out of the window.
Seasons 4-8 drug along but they were still entertaining imo.
*Spoilers*
I think they could've had him lose the battle to the brain surgeon as the ending. Dexter dies doing his thing, Deb can pop in and be the hero that gets the bad guy. Sleazy PI guy gets Hannah and the reward money. Deb and Quinn grow up and raise Harrison.
Dunno, I am no writer. But shite it was bad. Even just the events as they unfold.. Dex unplugs Deb and no nurses or anyone run in? Nobody stops some random dude rolling a body through a hospital or loading one onto a random boat? And the scene on the boat was hilariously bad. Anyone whose been near a hurricane knows youd never be able to go out on a boat of a 150mph hurricane was nearby.

I rewatched it recently as well, and I agree. It is way overblown as a terrible show past the midway point. It’s not a classic, but it’s better than people make it seem.

Just read the alternate ending and wow the show would have ended perfectly if they had gone that way.
