Brad 5000
Watson 5000
Ken 2000
After single Jeopardy, but Watson was fading some in the end of the first round. He (it) could not comprehend most of the decade questions and a few others.
I also realized that Watson may be at a disadvantage because he may not be able to hear Ken or Brad's answer. When Ken incorrectly answered "What is the 20's?" and then Watson said "What is the 1920's?" did Watson not process Ken's incorrect answer or did he not comprehend it because it is was technically stated different from him (it). If it is the former, then I am surprised the IBMers did not include something where Watson would then pick the second best answer according to his algorithm if the best answer has been ruled incorrect.

My question is how big of an advantage does Watson have in terms of buzzer speed and timing? I would bet that Rutter, Jennings, and Watson all know a good percentage of these answers (questions). The key to winning Jeopardy is figuring out the timing of the buzzer.
That's actually what made Jennings so successful (on top of being incredibly smart) during his run. You would see the other contestants frantically pressing their triggers and Jennings would always calmly ring in first.

Just came on here in Houston. Watson got off to a really hot start and then it was like the giant refrigerators stopped working.
POSSIBLE SPOILER********************
I saw a screen capture the other day from somewhere that had Ken at like 21 or 22k, Watson with 17 or 18k, and then you couldn't see what Brad had. I don't know if it was from some practice or from when they taped it, so take it with a grain of salt.

Watson gets the question via a text file at the same time it is read. It determines it's answer and if it is confident it rings in. It uses an actuator to press the same button the other two press.
They show Watson's top three answers on the bottom of the screen during the game and it's "ring in threshold." According to the show "Watson knows what he knows and what he doesn't know"

I am watching the episode now, and I keep thinking:
Is this as big as when chess masters play computers?

SPOILERS
Ok after watching the first episode I noticed a few areas where Watson has trouble. 1 - it doesn't feed off the players' wrong answers. 2 - it will still buzz in when it is only ~65% sure.
I want to see how it competes in final Jeopardy.
I have to admit, betting it all on Daily Double was pretty ballsy.

You can tell Ken is trying to buzz in and just can't beat Watson.
