No Andy Muschetti has already been given the go ahead for the sequel. The film is expected to bring in $60 million this weekend alone.

I doubt I will see it opening weekend, though. I have a feeling someone is going to pull some crazy shite at a theater

Unless this flops. I saw an article last month. They are planning it but if the first doesn't do what they need it to? They may not continue

From the trailers and interviews I've seen, it looks like they really nailed the casting with the kids. They all seem genuinely relatable and awkward like most kids that age. Not a bunch of attractive tweens made up to look dorky.

I've got ~75 pages left in the book, trying to finish by the weekend. Love the book, glad the movie is getting good reviews s

I read the book almost 30 years ago. I was literally up until 3am because I couldn't put it down. Nobody writes characters with the depth of Stephen King. I've been waiting for someone to do his work justice.

I agree. If Annabelle can have a good opening weekend so can IT.

If it's really good then word of mouth will intrigue some still on the fence about it

This is less an adaptation of the book and more a Cliff Notes version of the TV mini-series.

“It” just jumps from scene to scares with no connection or coherence to thread them together other than the mere fact that they’ve been placed on top of one-another, like toys mixed up from different sets.

Time has worked an odd switch on Stephen King. The recent TV series Stranger Things – a sort of illustrated essay on High Kingiana – tied the man to a period. He began writing in the 1970s. He is still writing effectively today. But that show framed his key tropes in endless 1980s ephemera. He now seems as much a signifier of the Reagan era as leg warmers or Pac-Man.

The screenplay hacks the story apart with more ruthlessness than clarity.

The final impression is of middle-ranking Kingiana sold and displayed by the yard. Have some kids on bicycles. Have a little New England gothic. Have some pop-cultural nostalgia.

This reviewer also called Georgie...Frankie....

How much can we really pile into her review if she couldn't even pay enough attention to get one of the main characters' names right? Hell I haven't even read the novel and I know who fricking Georgie is.

Sitting at 89% now . . .

Still great for 68 reviews in.

I don't care about rotten tomatoes scores because the writers are hacks, but IT is getting so much hype and for good reason--the movie looks incredible. I haven't been this pumped for a horror movie in a long time

I didn't realize this movie was just the kids version. Interesting, I like the idea of splitting up the two stories since the mini-series had the two storylines running simultaneously. If this thing makes bank it could lead to some interesting casting for the adult version. I would be interested to see who gets cast for the Harry Anderson corny funny guy role. He's not actually funny so a straight comedic actor like Will Ferrel for example would not have to be cast. Someone like Matt Damon (too short) or Ben Affleck (He's got the horror chops, he killed it in Phantoms) could be cast in that role.
