As far as current shows, James Spader overacts the shite out of Raymond Reddington.

Yeah. I use to be a huge claire danes fan but she is just way to much for me in this show.

David Caruso in CSI Miami. Make the show unwatchable.

Half of them dont. Like most bi polars they constantly convince themselves they dont need it and subject the world to their count behavior

That being said..of the ones that wont take meds..

That's a separate issue

Except that its not. She just got extra bipolar in the last year or two?

My impression is that she's simply become a lot worse about concealing it. It's because she believes her meds dull her perception, and she doesn't want to miss anything again, like she did on 9/11. Feeling so personally responsible for that is arguably grandiose thinking, or at least the germ of it.

I fully agree that this is the direction she's being given. My opinion is that shes playing the part in a woefully melodramatic manner.

Theres a point of diminishing returns with having someone with a leading role look so wretched in every scene. Obviously the writers intend for her illness to play a large part in the storyline. It just feels to me like theyre giving her license to drive the dramatic performance into the dirt. Just my opinion though.

I only say this because in general i really like the show

This plus the intense pressure from falling for Brody and everything that entailed to him now being who knows where as far as she's concerned.

To add to the pressure in Spock's comment, how crazy is she now more than ever to stop something else since she lost a lot of co-workers/familiar's in that CIA explosion.

I'm not saying her behavior isn't annoying but I believe its as accurate a portrayal as most of us will hopefully ever see.

My uncomfortability comes from the cringe worthy acting

Well she has won 3 Emmys for her role in the show so the greater majority thinks her acting is anything but cringe worthy.

I think her character is annoying and I'm tired of watching this crazy person but to say her acting is bad I just don't get. I think she does a pretty damn good job of acting a girl that is literally losing her mind. Have you seen people cry IRL recently? They look ridiculous and make ridiculous faces.

If you want bad acting watch the walking dead, THAT is cringe worthy.

Anyone who thinks her acting is cringe worthy had never seen bipolar disorder at its worse.

She was hitting just the right note the first season and most of the second. Now, whether some think it's realistic or not, she's become ridiculous.
I agree. Ridiculous, or tragic? And by tragic I mean bi-polar disorder is a tragic condition for real people. It's just that I'm not sure Claire Danes isn't tragically overplaying her character's disorder, and thus becoming a poster-child cartoon for stereotypes of bi-polar people. I realize real people with the real disorder can be pretty close to what we're seeing. It's just that she isn't convincing; she is over-playing it. But just IMO.

My thoughts exactly. And if theyre trying to give viewers the furthest extremes of manic depression it calls into question how someone sustained such a position as a high level CIA agent while battling such a debilitating mental illness. A career that pretty much sets the bar for undergoing rigorous psychological evaluation

24 is better than homeland as a tv show.
